This review will tell you more about Meng 1/9 BMW M1000RR (MT-009). New bike release comes as yet another German motorcycle kit from the famous models manufacturer. It is molded in big scale and should be interesting for modelers who would like to have something larger on their shelf. I reviewed the previous releases, and it will be interesting to see what is provided here. As for the real bike, letter "M" in the model name hints that we have here the ultimate track tool with all additional fine tunings. Finished model will be 230mm long, which is not that much for bike kit. Overall packaging is typical for this brand, and each frame is packed into separate plastic bag. Let's open them all and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with another moto from BMW.

Watch this video-review where I show all parts even closer.
We are going to start with fairing panels first. Those are packed into several plastic bags. Overall quality looks great, and on the photo above you can find the famous winglets.
Larger panels come in the next plastic bag. Those will have to be installed in place with help of screws, which you will see on the next photos in the article.
Exhaust should be assembled out of several parts. Here you can also notice the separate frame with brake calipers for your bike.
For the exhaust it might be good to think about "upgrading" it for something better-looking as this bike deserves an improvement.
Kit features pre-colored clear parts. In my opinion they look fine and can be used rightaway in your build.
Swingarm should be glued out of several sections. Those are nicely shaped and have guiding elements inside which would help with alignment.
Yes, motorcycle stand is also here, just like on the boxart. Such a thing will be useful for displaying your finished model.
Main frame should be glued out of several sections. Those look great and alignment shouldn't take a lot of time either.
Clear frame not only comes in the separate plastic bag, but also is wrapped into film. Overall molding quality looks great, and one of the parts is blacked/tinted.
Vinyl seat features "M" logo on it.
Wheel rims come on the separate frame. Each wheel should be glued out of two sections. Be ready to spend some time with those as real motorcycle has both made out of carbon fiber.
Front shock should be assembled out of separate cartridges, just like the real thing. This feature might be handy for some interesting scenes.
Even the tiniest parts are molded nicely, and you can expect guiding elements in all necessary spots.
Drive chain is molded out of plastic, so those two halves should be glued together. Overall quality is nice, but some modelers might go for metal aftermarket which will be even more sophisticated.
Engine is one of the main features here. Whole thing should be glued out of several parts, and it might be worth spending some time to properly paint it.
Premolded features are quite impressive, they should be visible even on the finished build.
Rear subframe is also divided into several sections. Here you can also see some of the fairings for BMW bike.
Meng decided not to skip the internal features, so you will get a chance to see what is hidden inside. It might be a good idea to leave cowlings off from one side to show what is in the motorcycle.
It is also notable how attachment points are placed here, as it will assist in the assembly.
It might be also a good idea to visit BMW dealer in order to check the real bike if they have it in stock.
Just like in the previous big moto releases, Meng uses here combined color molding, which looks quite cool.
Here you can check the history note about the bike.
I already mentioned screws for assembly, and here you can see whole bag of them. Metal plate with parts will be useful for brake rotors and some minor bits.
Vinyl tire here is surprisingly good. External features look convincing, and this should be enough for the whole build.
Both tires come packed together with metal springs, vinyl wire and screwdriver.
Kit features three decals sheets. First one here is dedicated to carbon fiber on the bike itself.
Second one will be useful for carbon fiber wheels on your model. Pre-shaped sections should be easier to work with.
Third sheet is a bit brighter and features all necessary elements for the cowlings and dashboard. Printing quality is great on all three.
Chrome decals will be handy for the rearview mirrors. BMW stickers look impressive and definitely good for this scale. Assembly manual is typical for this brand, and I show all pages in the video-review.
New big M1000RR from Meng should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is a great set which has no analogues on the market. Some modelers were complaining that they want something fast to build, and here is the good option. Moreover, one box features all necessary things for quite a reasonable price. I wouldn't say it is something you can build over the weekend, but this is definitely a cool project for those who would like like to have BMW sportbike on their shelf.
Thank you for helping me to get this model kit for the review.Pros
- Great molding quality
- Clever parts division
- Carbon decals included
- Metal parts included
Cons
- No masks for clear parts
- Carbon decals might be tricky for some modelers
