Takom 1/32 Ho 229A (32001)

This time I am going to tell you more about Takom 1/32 Ho 229A (32001). New kit comes as yet another copy of the famous aircraft in large scale. While we all know Zoukei-Mura set, today's model offers a bit more attractive price tag. There must be some catch, so it would be interesting to see what is different in comparison with Japanese model. Your help made it possible to get one box for the review, and this article will tell you more.
By the way, here you can read review with another 1/32 Horten.

Watch this video-review where I show all parts even closer.

First frame carries wing panels. Here you can see that each side will have to be glued out of two large parts with separate mechanization.

Horten pilot was notable for the special suit he had to wear during flight. It is good to see the figurine included in the kit, as it will improve appearance of your aircraft.

Assembly is straightforward, but I was surprised to see that there is no support for wings. It might be a good idea to add some metal rod for a better rigidity.

Large fuselage should be also glued out of separate panels. Overall division is done by panel lines, so it should help you get a cleaner result overall.

External features include recessed panel lines and rivets. All of those things look great, but try not to lose them under layer of primer and paint.

Next sprue is interesting because of structural sections which are molded as large single-piece elements. Such design will give you the right alignment and make it easier to get them together.

Premolded features look great, and it might be worth thinking on how to make some of the fuselage panels removable. Of course, you will be assembling and painting internals first.

This frame comes in two pieces as it carries parts for the engine and landing gear. Each wheel should be glued out of several parts, but you will probably find some aftermarket too.

Both engines are nicely detailed and have plenty of premolded features. It might be worth thinking on how to expose it on the finished Horten.

Complex landing gear is also nicely copied, and can be depicted in flight or parking position. Note also some of the cockpit panels on the sprue above.

Another cool feature - whole nose section molded in one piece. Such design will help you get a nice clean result without trying to combine several panels together.

Next we see more of the landing gear parts and some internal bits. Molding quality looks great even on the smallest parts.

Landing gear wheels might looks simple, but take a closer look and you will see details on the tires. Some modelers might prefer aftermarket, but of course it will cost you extra money.

Clear frame is not only packed into separate plastic bag, but also wrapped in film. Molding quality is great, Takom doesn't provide masks though, so you will have to find them yourself. Clear parts allow to build open cockpit and also contain sections for pilot's helmet.

Unpainted PE fret will be used for seatbelts only. Those work nicely with pilot as well.

Kit features only one decals sheet. Overall printing quality looks great, German symbols are separated into sections. Instrument panel will have separate dials. Both markings can be seen on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. You can check all pages in the video-review.

New aircraft model should be already available for purchase. In my opinion Takom did a great job here and offers a good chance to build unusual aircraft for affordable price. Today some 1/48 aircraft models are more expensive, and yet you get interior here as well as some assembly options. Large size makes it something I won't recommend to beginners, but for experienced modelers it should be fun to work on.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR DONATIONS WHICH MADE THIS REVIEW POSSIBLE!
