This article is dedicated to Tamiya 1/35 A34 Comet (380). New tank comes as yet another model in popular scale from the famous Japanese brand. In my opinion it has all the chances to become the best offering on the market, so it should be worth to check all parts closer. Real subject doesn't need an extra introduction, as this British Cruiser Tank is easy to recognize. Packaging is typical here, each frame comes in the separate plastic bag. Let's open them and take a look together.
By the way, here you can read review with another novelty from Tamiya.

Watch this video-review where I show all parts even closer.
We are going to start with large frame which carries hull parts. I would say design is classic for such tank and there are guiding elements which will help you during assembly.
Kit features two figures which might come handy in order to enhance the appearance of your build. Sculpting quality looks good.
This frame comes in two pieces. Of course, you will get drivetrain parts here together with tracks.
It is good to see plastic tracks as such parts will be easier to paint and weather. Note that roadwheels have rubber bandages premolded.
Kit offers several types of exhaust covers. Note that main barrel should be glued out of several parts for muzzle break. I would recommend to replace it with metal barrel.
Turret is also separated into several panels, but there are guiding elements inside which should help you with alignment. All hatches are molded separately here.
Clear parts look good, but there are no masks included. There are not that many symbols on the decals sheet. Printing quality is typical for Tamiya. You can see one of the markings on the photo below.
I would recommend to find some aftermarket decals for a bit different look. Star Decals might help with this.
Assembly manual and background info brochures come in black-and-white. I show all pages in the video-review.
New tank looks as good as previous armor releases from the same brand. I have to note that some design decisions are questionable, but overall set looks great and should be easy to work with. Moreover, standard model offers a lot of features out of the box, so some modelers will be fine with the build without any accessories. I would recommend to get the metal barrel as in this scale this will be the worthy upgrade for a better appearance of your Comet tank. :)
