Border Model 1/35 A6M2 Zero Fighter (BF-006)

This article is fully dedicated to Border Model 1/35 A6M2 Zero Fighter (BF-006). New kit continues lineup of aircraft model in unusual scale. Such size might be useful for some diorama ideas with vehicles or figurines, but for me it was also interesting because of the detailing. Border claims that you will get all necessary things for the nice cockpit and engine. Well, it might be worth checking closer in this case. Packaging is typical here - all frames come in the separate plastic bags. Let's open them all and take a look.
By the way, here you can read review with my old build which I did 10 years ago.

Watch this video-review where I show all parts even closer.

Frames are quite big here, and on you can see the first one above. It is filled with various small parts, so after careful look you will see landing gear wheels, bomb, fuel tank and some cockpit elements.

Cockpit should be nicely detailed out of the box. A lot of things are premolded on the parts and will have to be picked with pointed brush.

The same can be said about the engine parts. In my opinion you get all necessary parts for a nice result, but it might be worth to think on how to expose the engine afterwards.

External features on panels look great too and deserve some nice paintwork.

Wing division is typical, but note that wingtips and mechanization are molded separately. Overall quality looks great though.

External features include recessed panel lines and rivets. All those things look impressive for 1/35 scale.

Both fuselage halves are molded without tail fin. Here you can also see some of the interior panels and cowling halves.

What is also nice is that we get separate top insert, so you will have a nice connection between fuselage halves.

Inside you will find some interior features, but cockpit will be inserted separately. Note large guiding elements which should help with positioning.

Clear frame is packed into separate plastic bag. You can open the cockpit with those parts, but unfortunately masks are not included in the kit.

Kit also features small PE frets and some metal parts. Don't expect something unusual - those are just some essentials for fine features.

Here you can see pictures of the finished unpainted kit.

Decals sheet is not that big, but you will get all necessary symbols for your aircraft. Printing quality looks great. All three options can be seen on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. You can check all pages in the video-review.

New Zero should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is a great choice for modelers who don't want to spend money on Tamiya plastic. It is visible that Border tried to have as many features in plastic without resolving to metal and resin. I like the design of the parts and fuselage. It shows the attention to small quirks which are noticeable on the finished kit. Even dashboard should be assembled with clear parts and separate dial decals. All this should be fun to work with, so definitely recommended to try.
