Zvezda 1/48 Su-30SM Flanker H (4808)

This review will tell you more about Zvezda 1/48 Su-30SM Flanker H (4808). New kit comes as new-tooled plastic which copies modern jet aircraft. It is molded in popular scale, and packed into a huge box which has separate handle. There are 392 parts and assembled model will measure 47cm length. Overall packaging is typical and aircraft doesn't need an extra introduction. Let's open it and take a closer look together.

First frame comes in two and notable because it contains range of armament for the aircraft. Those items will be handy for the complete look of your jet.

Landing gear wheels come on the next sprue and might be worth upgrading due to their size. Note that kit features two pilot figurines out of the box.

Next we see frame with air intakes and cockpit floor. I would recommend to get some PE for this cockpit as it will be visible even with the closer canopy.

Surface features are not as sharp as they could be, and you can see it on the photo above.

Tail surfaces are molded on the next frame. Each one should be glued out of two halves and there are guiding pins which should help you in that.

Nose landing gear leg look great, but I wonder if we will see metal aftermarket for this aircraft.

Each wing should be glued out of several panels as well. Mechanization is molded separately, what might be handy for some build ideas.

Main legs look okay, it might be worth checking references for even better appearance.

I was glad to see one-piece nose cone here. Such part will give you a better-looking model and save your time. Here you can also see nose landing gear wheel bay.

Lower fuselage panel comes on its own frame. It is a large part, so fuselage assembly should be taken with due caution.

External features are okay, but not as good as in some other rival jet aircraft sets.

Here you can take a look at the top half as well. Yes, air brake is molded separately and can be assembled in deployed position.

Fuselage will take impressive dimensions, and I guess you should be ready for this.

Clear frame is molded in nice quality. You can open cockpit with those parts, but there are no masks or masking templates included here.

Decals sheets come in two - smaller one is fully dedicated to stencils.

Second sheet carries all main symbols for several markings. There are also some cockpit decals, but I would recommend to find some PE for even better look.

Marking guide is printed in color, what should be handy for a fine result. Assembly manual is typical for this brand. You can check all pages in the video-review.

New aircraft kit should be already available for purchase. In my opinion this is quite a controversial release in popular scale. From one side you are getting a lot of features out of the box, and even pilots are provided here. But from the other, the price is so steep that you expect a bit more in plastic. Moreover, it will be worth investing into some aftermarket, what will take the final cost even higher. If you are a big fan of this aircraft, then it might be worth it, but I can't come up with other reason to invest into today's kit.
