Foreart 1/350 HMS Coventry Type 42 Guided Missile Destroyer Batch I (3002)

Today I will tell you more about Foreart 1/350 HMS Coventry Type 42 Guided Missile Destroyer Batch I (3002). It is not hard to guess that new kit builds on what was started by previous release - Sheffield. Whole model is still made in the same scale and should be sharing a lot of parts as it is the same platform. It is also worth noting that both vessels share the same sad fate, and I recommend to read more about this one. Overall packaging is typical for this brand, so all frames come in the separate plastic bags. Box is sturdy, and parts should arrive intact to you. Let's open everything and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with HMS Sheffield from the same brand.

We are going to start with the model stand. This is the must-have thing for displaying your destroyer in finished state. :)

Hull parts come in the separate plastic bags. Overall quality looks great and there are strengthening structure inside for rigid construction.

Premolded details on the deck panel look great, and everything is as fine as it can be in 1/350 scale. Of course, you will have to work with fine brush in some areas.

Hangar openings look as good as on the first kit, so you don't have to worry about anything here.

Lower section details are also fine, and there are guiding elements to help you with installing additional items.

This is something I didn't show in the first kit review. All three large parts fit nicely together, and on the photo above you can see the dry-fitment.

Main superstructure still comes as large one-piece element, so it is as impressive as before. There are a lot of premolded features too.

The same can be said about next two parts. They are smaller in side, but overall design approach mimics what we see in the biggest element.

One of the superstructures comes as clear element. Foreart decided that such approach should make it easier to have windows on the model.

Next frames are molded in classic way. Overall molding quality is great, and on the photo above you can see that even the thinnest parts look impressive.

Both engines would be assembled out of separate parts. They will be perfectly visible on the model stand, so it might be worth spending some time painting and weathering them.

Not all of the structures are come in form of one part. In some cases you will have to combine separate panels together.

Small boats are still molded in the same style as on the previous kit. Two-halves design will require some care in order to get smooth finish.

Radar domes are still molded as single parts and look great. Some of the small parts will require plastic saw for separation as otherwise you might damage the surface.

Funnel should be glued out of two halves, but it won't be a difficult task to do.

Foreart includes one helicopter which can be assembled in two positions. Rotor blades can be found on PE fret.

All those thin parts look impressive, but they will definitely take some time to get together.

Kit also features 3D-printed parts for antennas on the deck.

Metal barrel is the same as on the initial release. Such bonus will be useful for more fine look of your build.

Two PE frets are also standard and you should be ready for impressive amount of small parts here. Yes, they will take some time, but final result should be worth it.

Two decals sheets have all the necessary symbols for two markings. Large name plate should be used for model stand. You can see profile on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. I show all pages in the video-review.

Today's kit should be already available for purchase, together with the first kit. Overall quality looks quite impressive for this size, but such set is definitely not for beginners. Real HMS Coventry has quite sad story, and you can read about it on Wikipedia. Worth noting that three of kills during Falklands War are attributed to this ship. In my opinion it is a must have for all naval modelers who like to get all necessary things in one box.
Get this and other kits in good models shops.
