Trumpeter 1/35 AH-1W Super Cobra (05116)

This article is dedicated to Trumpeter 1/35 AH-1W Super Cobra (05116). New helicopter kit comes as fresh plastic from the famous brand. Note that it is molded in popular scale and might be handy for some diorama ideas. I highlighted this release in one of the previous podcasts, so it will be interesting to see what is offered out of the box here. Overall packaging is typical, and all frames come in the separate plastic bags. Let's open them and check together.
By the way, here you can read review with Cobra from ICM.

Watch this video-review where I show all parts even closer.

First frame comes with mix of parts for the engine bay. Overall quality looks good and there are guiding elements which should help you with alignment.

Main rotor blades are quite big in this scale, so be sure to have enough space to fit the whole model. Both engines should be nicely detailed out of the box.

Trumpeter also provides various armament, and you can pick the loadout scheme for your project.

Some of the fuselage panels are molded separately. Don't worry, they repeat panel lines and should be easy to get on your helicopter.

Both engine bays can be open on your model. I think soon we will see aftermarket for this area too. Note also one-piece tail rotor on the same frame.

Both fuselage halves come with tail section. Parts are quite big, so try to follow the joint line during the assembly. Here you can also see one-piece cockpit tub.

External features look good, but I would recommend to be careful with primer and paint layers on the model.

Cockpit parts look fine, but for more serious look it is better to find some PE to install inside.

Clear frame is packed into separate bag and foam, so it won't be damaged. Overall quality looks great, and you can see that masks are also included in the kit.

Unpainted PE fret should be useful for some additional fine features which are tricky to copy in plastic.

Decals sheet is not that big, but printing quality looks great out of the box.

It is nice that marking guide is printed separately in color.

All four marking options can be seen on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. I show all pages in the video-review.

New Super Cobra should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is a great release of the modern helicopter in large scale. Overall quality looks great, and it looks like you are getting a lot of useful things in one box. I like that even masks are here, so you don't have to search for them separately. The only thing to remember about is the size, because assembled model will take plenty of space on your shelf.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR DONATIONS WHICH MADE THIS REVIEW POSSIBLE!
