ICM 1/35 AH-1G Cobra Late (53031)

This time we are going to check ICM 1/35 AH-1G Cobra Late (53031). Yes, it is another Cobra helicopter model from the famous brand. Nevertheless, take a careful look at the scale - new release gives us a chance to have a model in popular military scale. It might come handy for some complex diorama with vehicle or figurines. Moreover, ICM will release special figures set which we will check in the different article. Packaging is typical for this manufacturer, so all frames come in one bag. In total there are 231 parts which should assemble into a model with 459mm length. Let's open them and take a closer look together.

This frame comes in two, as we get various armament here. It is nice to see all those items included in the standard package.

You will have to use only one tail section for your helicopter. Note that main rotor blades are assembled out of separate halves, so be careful while joining those large elements together.

Kit also features several types of landing gear, but you will need only one for Late version. ICM also included towing rack which might come handy for some diorama ideas.

Both fuselage halves are molded with tail section as you remember. Cockpit tub features some premolded details, but I would recommend to get Eduard PE for even more features.

External details on fuselage look great, be careful with raised rivets. Those things might be easy to accidentally sand away. :D

Clear frame is packed into separate plastic bag. Overall quality looks great, and you can open cockpit with those parts. ICM also includes masks template into assembly manual.

Kit features only one decals sheet with all necessary symbols. Printing quality looks fine. You can see all options on the photo below.

New Cobra release should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is a great choice for those who were waiting for detailed kit in 1/35 scale. ICM gives you a lot of things in the standard package, and I have no doubt that there will be also support from aftermarket brands. Keep in mind that finished model will be quite imposing, so it is better to ensure that you have enough space. Moreover, some things would require additional attention, but I guess experienced modelers should be fine with such design. :)
