Arma Hobby 1/48 Hurricane Mk.IIB (40007)

This article is dedicated to Arma Hobby 1/48 Hurricane Mk.IIB (40007). As you can guess, we get yet another version of the famous British fighter aircraft in popular scale. Previous releases were quite nice out of the box, so it will be interesting to see what is offered in today's package. Boxart looks great here, it would be cool to have such image as poster. All parts are enclosed into a plastic bag, so let's open it and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with the previous version in the same scale.

Watch this video where I show all parts even closer.

First frame carries fuselage parts and some of the external equipment. Both halves are molded with tail fin and bottom tail panel. Note also frontal section of the air intake which is molded as one-piece.

Next frame is a bit more busy with various parts. Here you will find cockpit walls and landing gear wheels. Tires feature some premolded details, what might be handy in this scale.

Last grey frame carries wing parts. Wing mechanization is premolded, so you will have to get aftermarket PE for dropped flaps.

External features include recessed panel lines and raised rivets. All those things look great for the scale, and it might be worth to play with painting techniques.

Clear frame is packed into separate plastic bag. Molding quality looks great and you can open the cockpit with those parts. Pre-cut masks are shown on the photo below.

They are ready to be used out of the box, and there are also masks for landing gear wheels. Decals are printed in Techmod, so overall quality looks great.

There are even some decals for the cockpit. All three markings can be seen on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. I show all pages in the video-review.

New Hurricane should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is a great choice for 1/48 build, and might be one of the best options for the given type. One box will bring you all necessary things for a nice build. Moreover, there is some aftermarket already available, so it is possible to find something suitable for your project.
You can get this and other kits on official Arma Hobby website.

Pros

  • Nice molding quality
  • Clever parts division
  • Masks included
  • Great decals

Cons

  • No separate wing mechanization
  • Molded in top cowling panels
