This review will tell you more about HobbyBoss 1/72 TBM-3 Avenger (87274). New aircraft kit comes in small scale and can be interesting for aviation fans who would like to have their own copy. Avenger doesn't require an extra introduction, but somehow there was no decent copy on the market till now. HobbyBoss promises modern level of details as well as several assembly options. Overall packaging is typical for the brand, so all frames come in separate plastic bags. Let's open them together and take a closer look.
By the way, here you can read review with another WW2 aircraft from the same brand.

Watch this video-review where I show all parts even closer.
First frame come with a mix of parts. Note two types of belly panels which can copy open or closed version on your model
Engine and landing gear parts look fine out of the box. It might be worth spending some time to get a nice paintwork on those.
HobbyBoss gives the separate sprue with armament, what can be handy for some ideas. Moreover, quality of those looks good out of the box.
Both fuselage halves come on another frame. Here you can also see one-piece cowling, which is a very important feature for aircraft model.
Note that both halves are molded together with tail fin and rudder. External features look good and deserve a nice paintwork with weathering.
Inside you will find some of the interior features as well as guiding elements. The interior structure should be visible thanks to large canopy.
As it was mentioned in the beginning, HobbyBoss offers two assembly options - with folded wings or with retracted ones. On the photo above you can see parts for the retracted version.
Folded version will be using different parts, and here you can see wingroot sections which should be joined with the fuselage. Cockpit floor looks good too.
Wing interior is also nicely detailed and I wonder how is it possible to show this feature on the finished model.
Folded version wing halves look as great as the previous pair of parts. Panel lines are not too deep, but should be enough for this scale.
Wing interior details look great, but note that mechanisation is premolded.
Unpainted PE fret should come handy for fine features on your aircraft. Yes, some parts are quite small, and you will have to be careful in order to get them into right spot.
Clear frame is wrapped in foam, so it should stay intact in any conditions. Overall molding quality looks great and deserves a nice paintwork with help of masks which you can see on the photo below.
Decals sheet is not that big, but printing quality looks great. You will get some cockpit decals too.
Marking guide is printed in color and should be understandable without any extra problems.
Small ad insert shows some of the features in 3D.
On the side of the box you will find two marking options profiles.
History note is also there, but I recommend to find some good reference material for the build.
Assembly manual is printed in black-and-white. You can check all pages in the video-review.
New aircraft kit should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is a great choice for modelers who would like to get everything in one box. Yes, there are some opportunities for an upgrade, but I think even standard plastic should be enough for a great build. I like that manufacturer included masks and PE, as you get all necessary items in the box. Small scale might be tricky for older modelers, but final result should be good.
