Miniart 1/48 P-47D-28RA Pacific Theater (48022)

This review article will tell you more about Miniart 1/48 P-47D-28RA Pacific Theater (48022). New release comes as yet another version of the famous aircraft in popular scale. I reviewed the previous types, and it was a great kit, which can be considered one of the best on the market. Now we get a chance to copy new markings and slightly different aircraft. Note that whole release comes as Basic Kit, so it means we won't get PE or additional parts. Some modelers would be actually happy to hear that as it will give them a chance to focus on other things. Overall packaging is typical for this brand, and all parts come sealed in a plastic bag. Let's open them and check together.
By the way, here you can read review with another P-47 from the same brand.

First frame is one of the biggest here and comes with mix of parts. As you can see, both wings will be closed as ammo bays are supplied only in Advanced version of the kit.

Both fuselage halves are molded together with tail fin. External features are typical for this scale, and you will find nice recessed panel lines and rivets.

Kit also offers several versions of the cockpit, what might be useful for copying particular version. Overall premolded details look impressive and deserve a nice paintwork.

Miniart is quite generous in terms of external equipment because you will get several types of fuel tanks and bombs. All this comes as standard bonus and you don't have to pay an extra for the parts.

Engine is also quite nice out of the box. Even though there are no PE parts used, it still should look impressive in the finished state. Note that landing gear wheels have weight effect on them.

Wing mechanization is molded separately, what is a great thing for 1/48 scale aircraft. External details are on the same level as on the fuselage.

Clear frame is packed into a separate plastic bag. Overall quality looks great, but there are no masks. I recommend to buy aftermarket set for easier process.

Decals are printed in Cartograf, so you don't have to worry about quality issues. On the photo above you can see the sheet with main symbols and some cockpit decals.

Second sheet includes various stencils for this aircraft. You can see all marking options on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. I show all pages in the video-review.

New release should be already available for purchase in Modelimex. In my opinion it is as great as previous versions and gives you a chance to build a nice copy of the famous aircraft. This plastic is definitely better than Tamiya offering, and you are able to get more things out of the box. Don't be confused by Basic Kit designation - there is still plenty of stuff included, and it should look great once glued together. The only difficult thing will be to pick up the marking option for your build. :)
Get this and other kits from Modelimex webshop.

Pros

  • Great molding quality
  • Clever parts division
  • Cartograf decals

Cons

  • No masks included
