IBG Models 1/72 IAR 81C Great Air Battles of 1944 (72570)

This review will tell you more about IBG Models 1/72 IAR 81C Great Air Battles of 1944 (72570). New set comes as another edition of the new-tooled plastic which will give you a chance to assemble this unusual fighter aircraft. I missed the initial release, so it will be interesting to see what is supplied here. Overall packaging is typical for this brand, and frames are packed into several bags. Let's open them all and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with PZL in the same scale.

Watch this video where I will show all parts even closer.

First we are going to start with the sprue which is dedicated to wing parts. Overall design here is typical for such element. External features look great for 1/72 scale.

Flip over the parts, and you will see that wing tips and mechanization will serve as guiding elements. Such thing will be useful for the proper alignment.

On the next frame you will see fuselage and engine parts. Note that engine will be nicely detailed for such scale, and it might be worth thinking on how to show it on the finished model.

Fuselage is glued out of several panels. I guess such design will allow you get a bit more smooth connection. Inside you will find minor cockpit features which look great for this scale.

Cowling and nose section should be assembled out of separate panels. Here you can see some of them which should be combined together.

Last grey plastic sprue is filled with small parts. Those might look tiny but still have a lot of details out of the box, what is rather impressive in person.

Here you can take a closer look at the large spar which will be holding wing in place. There is also a front cowling section visible on the photo.

Clear frame looks great out of the box, and you can open canopy on your model. There are no masks or templates included in this kit.

Small unpainted PE fret will be handy for some fine features on your model. It should be used both outside and inside.

Decals sheets are not that big and come from Techmod. Overall quality looks great, and it is nice to see numbers registry here. All markings are shown on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. I show all pages in the video-review.

New aircraft model should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is a great set for those who would like to assemble something different from popular types. Overall quality looks nice out of the box, and you can expect some useful bonuses to be included. This is more of a build project for experienced modelers as some parts are quite small, and PE will require certain care too.

Pros

  • Nice molding quality
  • Clever parts division
