ICM 1/35 Battle of France Spring 1940 (DS3515)

Today our review is dedicated to ICM 1/35 Battle of France Spring 1940 (DS3515). This is yet another combo-set from the famous brand. Nevertheless, new release comes with even more kits inside. Let's count all of them first - 290 parts for Sd.Kfz.251/1 Ausf.A, 302 parts for Sd.Kfz.251/6 Ausf.A, 203 parts for Le.Gl.Einheitz Pkw vehicle, 81 parts for German Infantry, 32 parts for German Command Vehicle Crew, 29 parts for German Drivers and 47 parts for German Weapons and Equipment. All this sounds like a hefty package to get in one box. Let's open everything and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with the previous combo-set.

Watch this video-review where I show all parts even closer.

First we are going to start with figures. Those are typical for 1/35 scale, all poses are preshaped, so you will have to plan how to place them in your project.

Weapons and equipment come on the next frames. Molding quality looks fine, but be careful with thin elements.

There are three figures sets in the package. Each of them can be used with one of the vehicles as you will see on the assembly manual.

Note that figures don't have decals, so you will have to replicate markings with your own hands.

As you remember, we have two versions of Sd.Kfz.250. They are basically the same kit with few differences, so only set of sprues will be shown.

Next sprue set comes for the Le.Gl offroader. Here you can see some of the external panels as well as engine parts.

Next frame is dedicated to mix of parts for the spare wheel, folded roof and some other minor elements.

Note that doors are molded separately, what might come handy for some diorama builds. Don't forget to do dry-fitting before you join everything together.

This kit features plastic wheels, what should look great on the model. Note also additional rifles that can be placed in the car.

Clear frame is packed into separate plastic bag. Molding quality looks great, and you can paint the windscreen frame separately before inserting the clear parts.

Here is the third vehicle - Sd.Kfz.250. Kit might be familiar to you as we reviewed several versions before. On the photo above you can see some of the hull parts.

Of course, it also has quite detailed suspension and the engine, so it might be worth showing them on the finished model.

As you remember, this vehicle is halftrack, so you will have to work with complex rear section. Note that tires and tracks are vinyl and can be seen on the photo below.

Clear frame is packed into separate plastic bag, but we will need only few parts from here.

Last frame carries separate panels for the lower hull section and more of the engine parts.

Assembly manuals and decals are the same as in the solo kits released before. The only difference is the special folder with some assembly advices on the rear side.

As you can guess, all of those kits are available separately, but today's boxing offers you a chance to get everything at once. In my opinion this is an interesting proposition for modelers who would like to build some kind of diorama in popular scale. Of course, you don't have to use everything at once, so whole set can be also treated as an efficient buy. The only thing you will need here - some base in order to combine vehicles and figures together. I don't think it will be a difficult thing to do, but who knows, maybe ICM will start including such thing in the future releases... :)
