ICM 1/35 Unimog S404 (35135)

Today we have a chance to talk about ICM 1/35 Unimog S404 (35135). This name is quite famous, and we all know that truck was initially created as the vehicle for German army. It became famous for the durability and offroad capabilities. Initial release was an open rear bed truck, which we can finally copy with help of the new kit. Packaging is typical for ICM. There are 250 parts which should assemble into a model with 143mm length. Let's open the box and take a closer look together.

First we are going to start with panels for the rear bed. As you can notice, wooden floor doesn't feature any wooden texture, but it might be a good idea to replicate some weathering here.

Next we continue with a sprue which carries mix of parts. Note that some of them, for example, side mirrors, are supplied in several versions.

Next we see front cab panels. Overall molding quality looks fine, I didn't find any notable issues here.

Note that front mask features Mercedes logo even though it is not mentioned on the box. Dashboard looks fine for this scale.

Manufacturer provides us unfolded roof here, so you will have to work a bit in order to get a smooth result. On the sides of the sprue you can also see main chassis bars.

Of course, there is also a nicely detailed engine included, so it might be worth to think on how to expose this part of the model. Another good idea - to add some wiring on the vehicle.

Yes, kit features vinyl tires. Those might be okay for out of the box build, but I have a feeling that resin aftermarket will be out soon.

Clear frame is packed into separate plastic bag. Molding quality looks great and you just have to insert those parts into windscreen frame.

Decals sheet is not that big, but features all necessary symbols for several markings. Assembly manual is typical for this brand, and I show all pages in the video-review.

New kit comes as a nice offering from the famous brand. In one box you will get all the necessary features for impressive build. Frankly speaking there is not that much to add, maybe you can replace the standard vinyl tires. I also think that ICM should start providing some wiring suggestions for a bit more experienced modelers. This could be a good thing to get them in the standard manual as an assembly suggestion/option.
