ICM 1/48 B-26K with USAF Pilots and Ground Personnel (48280)

Today we are going to check ICM 1/48 B-26K with USAF Pilots and Ground Personnel (48280). As one can tell by kits name, one box will bring us aircraft model together with figures. This might be an interesting build in popular scale, so I think it is worth checking closer. Packaging is typical for ICM. All frames come in several resealable bags. There are 344 parts for the aircraft and 38 parts for five figures. Assembled model will have a wingspan of 455mm. Let's open this box and take a closer look together.

All figures come on the same plastic sprue. Parts division is typical for this scale, so it won't be difficult to assemble everything together.

This is relatively large model, so be ready to work with big wing halves which should be glued together. Note that engine gondolas are separate here.

It is good to see one-piece nose cone section. Such thing will come handy for a nice-looking result. Landing gear legs look impressive and should be easy to install.

Out of the box you will get both engines. Note that front cowling section comes as one-piece element. It might be wise to think on how to expose at least one of the engines.

Next we see another pair of wing parts as well as bulkheads which will hold both wings in place. Note that wing mechanization is separate here.

ICM included various armament into standard package, so you won't have to buy anything additionally.

Yes, this is one more pair of wing parts, but we won't need them. Instead, you will have to use fuselage panels and propellers.

Pylons are molded separately and should be installed into special slots on the wings.

Tailwings come with separate elevators, what might come handy for some modelers. Note that attachment points are on the leading edge.

Both fuselage halves are molded without nose cone and rudder. These are large parts, so be careful while joining them together. As for landing gear wheels, I would rather recommend to find resin replacement for those.

Last grey plastic frame is dedicated to another pair of wing parts and some of the cockpit elements.

Clear frame comes in the separate plastic bag in order to avoid possible scratches. Molding quality looks great and there is a masking template in the assembly manual.

Kit is quite big, so we get two decals sheets here. Printing quality looks great and you can see all four markings on the photo below.

New big B-26K comes as logical expansion of the lineup. Today's package offers a chance to buy aircraft model together with figures and some additional items. Such thing might be handy for a diorama project in 1/48 scale. Keep in mind that this kit is definitely not for beginners, so I would rather think twice before going on to assemble such big aircraft. Moreover, there is a huge choice of aftermarket accessories and some of them are worth adding in this model.
