Dai Nippon Kaiga 1/48 Luftwaffe Modelling Workbook (Oliver Peissl) Review

This time I am going to tell you more about 1/48 Luftwaffe Modelling Workbook. New publication comes from Japanese publisher and should be an interesting read for modelers who are interested in the topic. For me it was curious to see what is actually featured inside and how it can help in learning more. Overall printing format is rather classic, so book comes as softcover with quality print inside. In total there are more than 140 pages, which is not that large number, but let's see what type if information is supplied there.
By the way, here you can read review with kit which might benefit from this book.

We start with contents page which is resolved as stylish paint color palette. As you can notice, almost all famous German aircraft are covered here.

Each chapter covers several aircraft, for example, here you can see the famous Fw airplanes, all in the same scale. Quality of builds is quite impressive, and you can see it yourself.

I have to say that the quality of photos is also great. It is quite important here because it is necessary for better understanding of the assembly process. On the photo below you can see that modern aircraft are also covered.

I appreciate one additional feature in this book - list of the tools and paints used. This is simple yet very useful thing which will give you a better understanding of what you need.

New book should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is a great read, but be ready to grab one fast because those are usually printed in small numbers. Yes, the price is around 50USD, and such a number is definitely not for everyone. I think it is worth the money and can provide you some new ideas on how to build and paint next Luftwaffe aircraft. Moreover, don't be confused by the scale mentioned in the name, all those tools and methods can be used with smaller or bigger models too.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT IN GETTING THIS BOOK!

Pros

  • Clear styling
  • Detailed explanation of build process
  • Overall quality and layout

Cons

  • We always want more pages, right? :D
