Zvezda 1/35 T-62 (3673)

Today we are going to talk about Zvezda 1/35 T-62 (3673). New kit should help you copy the famous Soviet Main Battle Tank in popular scale. This is a completely new plastic, so we can expect nice quality and a lot of details out of the box. Manufacturer claims that there are 399 parts which should assemble into a model with 26.7cm length. Packaging is typical, everything comes in sealed plastic bags. Let's open them and take a closer look together.

First frame is dedicated to some turret parts. Note that hatches are separate, what might be useful for figures placement. Main barrel should be glued out of two halves, and it is better to find some replacement.

On the next sprue you can see towing cables, fuel tank and some minor elements for the hull. It is good to see cables as plastic parts, because this thing will be easier to handle.

Roadwheels are molded together with rubber section. For those you will need some circular templates so that the final result would look nicely painted.

Lower hull section should be glued out of separate panels. There are guiding elements which will help you with alignment.

More hull panels can be found on the next sprue. Overall design is typical for such model, so you won't find something unusual here.

Some parts are quite tiny, so you will have to be careful while handling those. Turret machine gun should be assembled out of several elements.

Kit features plastic tracks, what is really great for this scale. Note that tracks are supplied in form of fixed length sections and such design should speed up assembly process.

Decals sheet is not that big, but carries full number register. Printing quality looks great and those symbols should be easy to apply.

Clear frame also looks fine. Keep in mind that there are no masks in the kit.

Marking guide is printed in color. I would recommend to find some reference material for particular options.

New tank kit looks nice out of the box. In my opinion Zvezda included and copied all necessary things. The only problem is a two-piece barrel, and it would be good to replace this part with metal aftermarket. Other things look nice and should be enough for a great build. I can also say that such model set can be recommended to beginners who would like to try their hand with "big scale" armor.
