Miniart 1/48 Fw 190D-9 Mimetall Prod. Basic Kit (48040)

This article will tell you more about Miniart 1/48 Fw 190D-9 Mimetall Prod. Basic Kit (48040). I have to note straight away that this a new-tooled release which is not based on any of the existing offerings. In my opinion it has all the chances to get the leading position on the market for this type of the aircraft. First release comes as Basic Kit, but I have no doubt that next versions will come. Overall packaging is typical for this brand, so all frames are sealed into one plastic bag. Let's open them all and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with P-47 from the same brand.

Watch this video-review where I show all parts even closer.

On the first frames you will find landing gear parts, fuel tanks halves and even cockpit floor. Note that cooling flaps are provided in open or closed versions.

Here you can take a closer look at the cockpit floor. Overall features look impressive for this size and deserve a nice paintwork.

Wing design is typical for this size - two top halves and one bottom with separate mechanization. External features look great, note also separate ammo bay cover.

Fuselage parts are divided into several sections - two side ones and one bottom tail panel. Here on the frames you will also find landing gear wheels for retracted or in-flight position.

External features include recessed panel lines, riveting and note that there are also some guiding elements both inside and outside.

Three propeller hubs hint on future versions. Here you can also take a closer look at landing gear wheels.

Miniart provides external equipment even in Basic Kit, so you will be free to choose what to install on your fighter. One-piece propeller looks great, but be careful with attachment points on blades.

Clear frame is packed separately. Molding quality looks fine, and of course you can open the cockpit. There are no masks or masks templates, so it might be a good idea to get some aftermarket set.

Decals are printed in Cartograf, and printing quality looks great. There is also a segmentation for easier application. Both markings can be seen on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. You can check all pages in the video-review.

New release should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is a great choice for those who would like to have famous "Dora" on their shelf. Overall quality is just impressive, and even Basic Kit might be fun to build. I have no doubt that we will see aftermarket for this set, so think if you want to spend more. I am still hopeful that one day we will see masking templates in Miniart kits as those would make whole combo even more complete. :)
