HobbyBoss 1/48 Pz.IV Ausf.J (84842)

This review will tell you more about HobbyBoss 1/48 Pz.IV Ausf.J (84842). As you can guess from the name, nice box brings us a tank model in smaller scale. Such a thing might be handy for diorama builders or modelers who don't have enough space for bigger projects. I reviewed the previous models from this brand, and they were quite decent, so it is interesting to see what is included here. Overall packaging is standard, so each frame is sealed into separate plastic bag. Let's open them all and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with another tank in 1:48 scale.

Watch this video-review where I show all parts even closer.

We are going to start with the top section of the turret. Such design will make it easier to get a nice and clean result in your build. Note that hatches are molded separately.

Lower hull section is also one-piece element. External features look fine for this size.

Top section is also one-piece and features separate hatches. Surface details look fine for this size.

This frame comes in two pieces. Here you will find drivetrain bogies as well as plastic tracks. Such parts should be easier to install, and final appearance will be a bit more convincing.

Rear armor wall is molded separately and can be found on this frame. Note also the turret stowage box, which should be installed on the back of it.

Main barrel is molded as one-piece element, but muzzle brake comes as two-piece assembly. Schurzen is molded out of plastic, what might be handy for damage imitation on your build.

Side skirts are connected together with tabs and glacis plate. There are also some pioneer tools premolded on both sides.

Vinyl polycaps will be used for the drivetrain on your tank.

Decals sheet is not that big, but you will find all necessary symbols for three markings. Printing quality looks fine, and all options can be seen on the photo below.

It is nice that marking guide is printed in color here.

There is also a separate insert which shows the main features of the kit.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand and comes in black-and-white format. You can check all pages in the video-review.

New tank model should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is a great choice even for beginners who would like to have Panzer in their collection. Overall quality looks fine out of the box, so you just need to carefully assemble everything together. I would recommend to get metal replacement for the gun barrel, so that the final appearance would be a bit more convincing.
