Foreart 1/35 M142 HIMARS (5001)

In this article I will tell you more about Foreart 1/35 M142 HIMARS (5001). New release comes as the first big scale model kit from the well-known manufacturer. As you remember, Foreart was more focused on small-sized models, but here we get way bigger offering. Such a model might be interesting for modelers who would like to get their own rocket truck, but can't work with small scale. Manufacturer promises great features straight out of the box, and also some bonuses inside. Packaging is typical, all frames are packed into separate plastic bags. Assembled model should be 225mm long. Let's open everything and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with small scale release from the same brand.

Watch this video where I show all parts even closer.

First two frames are the biggest in the kit. On the photo above you can see panels for the launch system which will be placed on the rear section of the truck.

All panels have guiding elements inside, and this design will be helpful for the proper alignment. In some cases it is better to plan the paintwork in advance.

Another big frame carries large panels for the front cab and main chassis bars. Note that both bars are molded together with external features like rivets and various strengthening bits.

Doors are separate here, so you can open them in order to expose what is inside. It is interesting to see door sills actually molded separately, this design was needed in order to have more features in that area.

Another sprue is smaller, but here you can also see some of the internal equipment. Note that a lot of parts are quite tiny and you will have to be extra careful with them.

Rocket launcher can be assembled in combat or transport positions. Each uses its own specific parts, so be sure to follow the instructions.

Premolded details look great on every part, and it might be worth to spend some time on proper weathering.

Some interior equipment has premolded wiring as it is visible here. I recommend to check some reference photos for even more features on your build.

I used this sprue intentionally as you can see which parts can brake off. They are not damage, but it happens. Wheel rims look great just as interior seat parts.

Instrument panel has plenty of premolded features, but be sure to compare with real photos of the truck.

Fuel tank and air box should be assembled out of several panels. Again, we have some guiding elements which will help you with alignment.

Each tube should be glued out of separate sections. This might be a bit tedious, but at least there are guiding elements inside.

Note that Foreart also provides one rocket which can be useful for depicting the launch moment. Tail fins will be replicated with PE parts by the way.

Another great bonus - engine parts on the separate frame. Moreover, you can show the powerplant on the finished model by tilting the front cab.

Wheel axles should be glued out of two parts for each. It might be a good idea to add some wiring where it is possible.

Overall molding quality looks great here and I didn't find any issues even on the smallest parts. Attachment points are also very thin.

As it was mentioned before, all parts that are divided into halves also have guiding elements inside.

Foreart also provides some resin parts for fine features on your HIMARS.

Vinyl tires is not my favorite thing, but here they look surprisingly good. Note the features on the tire walls.

Another cool bonus - driver figurine. It is 3D-printed resin, so overall features look impressive. Yes, it is made as one-piece part, but separation and cleanup won't take a lot of time.

You also get some wiring out of the box. These elements will be replicated with help of plastic parts.

The last two frames surprised me a bit. While the one on the top photo will be useful for the roof-mounted machine gun, the rifles on the lower sprue can be used or just put aside.

Nevertheless, it is worth noting that those weapons looks surprisingly good for a plastic parts.

One more great surprise comes in form of armor cover for the cab, which is designed as one-piece. Such a thing should be easier to install, and as you remember we have separate doors here.

Clear frame looks great and has all necessary parts. There are no masks in the kit, so you will have to cut them by yourself.

On the box you can also find pictures of the assembled model.

One more useful addition - large PE fret which is unpainted. Here plenty of parts will go outside and inside your model.

Decals sheet is not that big, but you get all necessary symbols for several marking options. Overall printing quality looks great. Assembly manual is typical for this brand, and I show all pages in the video-review.

New truck should be already available for purchase. In my opinion this is a great addition from Foreart, which should attract modelers who prefer bigger size. Overall details and bonuses in the box make it quite a great combo. Out-of-the-box build would look great, and I am not sure what can be upgraded here. Moreover, it is nice to get even figurine included in the standard packaging.
Get this kit in any good models shop.
