Zvezda 1/48 Lagg-3 Series 66 (4833)

In this article you will learn more about Zvezda 1/48 Lagg-3 Series 66 (4833). New aircraft model comes as new-tooled plastic from the famous brand. Fighter also doesn't require extra introduction, and it should be interesting to see if this kit has the chance to become the main choice for replicating LAGG. All parts come sealed into one plastic bag. There are 163 parts which should assemble into a model with 18.4cm length. Let's open everything and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with another new aircraft from the same brand.

Watch this video where I show all parts even closer.

First frame is dedicated to wing parts. Don't expect a lot of surface features here as real aircraft was also quite smooth. Flaps are premolded and ailerons are separate.

Wingtips and wing edges will also serve as guiding elements. Such design should be easy to work with.

Both fuselage halves come on the second frame. They are molded together with tail fin, but without rudder. Here you can also see some elements for the landing gear and cowling section.

Inside you will find modest cockpit features, but those will be improved with separate parts. There are also guiding pins which will help you with alignment. Lower seat section comes in two versions in order to accommodate pilot figurine.

Yes, there is a figurine included. In my opinion it is really great addition for some build ideas. On the bigger frame you can see engine parts and assembled engine can be shown through opened cowling.

Last grey frame comes with some of the cockpit parts, landing gear elements and propeller blades. Note that tailwheel is molded together with leg.

Clear frame is packed into separate bag. Overall molding quality looks great and you can open the cockpit on your model. The only thing is that you will need masks as those are not included into the package.

Decals sheet is not that big, but you will find all necessary symbols here. Printing quality looks great, cockpit will get only dials decal. Seatbelts should be replicated with some aftermarket. Marking guide can be seen on the photo below.

Pictures of the finished model are printed on the rear side of the box.

Assembly manual is black-and-white. You can check all pages in the video-review.

Whole kit looks like a great offering to replace previous choices. Out of the box you will get a lot of things, including even the figurine. Moreover, it is impressive that you can even build inflight position - something what disappeared in modern aircraft kits. Overall quality shows what can be achieved with modern technologies, and there is nothing to complain about. Yes, there are still some things which can be upgraded with aftermarket, but professional modelers can solve it with their hands. Overall kit is recommended to modelers who would like to build something different from all those Bf 109 and Spitfire coming out from different brands. :)
