ICM 1/72 In The Skies of China (DS7204)

This article will tell you more about ICM 1/72 In The Skies of China (DS7204). As the boxart here suggests, one box will bring you three models in popular scale. This sounds like an interesting offer to work on, so I decided to review it both in this review and video below. Packaging is typical for ICM, so all parts are separated into several bags. Inside you will find 130 parts for Ki-27 (2 aircraft) and 163 parts for Ki-21-Ia. Let's open everything and take a closer look together.

First frame is dedicated to bigger aircraft. You will find tail section halves, wing halves and even some of the interior parts.

Note that the engine is included for both sides. Cowling should be glued out of several sections.

Just like in the previous releases, we get separately molded tail section here. There are guiding pins inside which should help you with assembly.

On the wing parts you can notice that flaps are premolded and ailerons are separate. Recessed panel lines will require careful application of the paint in order not to lose details.

Both fuselage halves look fine, but door is premolded, so you won't be able to open it on your model.

Clear frame is packed into a separate plastic bag. Molding quality looks great and should look beautiful on the model.

Next one is Ki-27a in the same scale. I am not sure if I showed it to you before, so worth taking another look. On the first frame you will find wing parts and some landing gear bits.

Both fuselage halves are molded together with tail fins. Cowling should be assembled separately with help of one-piece frontal section. Note also the engine parts on the same frame.

Clear frame is smaller than the previous one, but canopy parts look as nice as on the bigger model.

Decals sheets are not that big, but you will find all necessary symbols there. Overall printing quality looks great out of the box.

Yes, some of those stripes can be replicated with help of masks, but this is up to you if you would like to choose this way.

Assembly manuals are typical for this brand. I show all pages in the video-review.

Combo-set should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is an interesting choice for modelers who would like to have a small collection in one setting. Moreover, quality looks fine out of the box, and assembly won't be difficult either. The only thing you should remember is that there are no figurines or models stand, but those can be bought separately. ICM produces quite handy model stands set which can be used here.
