Zvezda 1/144 Yak-40 (7030)

This review is dedicated to Zvezda 1/144 Yak-40 (7030). In my opinion such aircraft doesn't need an extra introduction and easily recognizable in any scale. Nevertheless, there was no decent kit on the market until now. What we are going to check here is a completely new-tooled release which was created with help of modern technologies. Packaging is typical for Zvezda, so all parts come sealed in one plastic bag. There are 59 parts which should assemble into a model with 14.1cm length. Let's open them and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with Airbus kit from the same brand.

Watch this video-review where I show all parts even closer. :)

We are going to start with the biggest frame here. This one carries wing parts as well as some interior elements.

Wing mechanization is premolded and flaps will work as guiding elements. Kit also features some of the cockpit things, so nose area won't be completely empty.

Next sprue is smaller and brings us fuselage halves. Both parts are molded together with tail fin and nose section. Such design will require due care during assembly.

Inside you will find guiding pins for easier alignment of those parts. Note that there are no passenger seats in the kit.

I've mentioned the seats because Zvezda also includes all necessary clear parts. Who knows, maybe interior would be visible through those. Masks are not included in the kit.

Nevertheless, there is even more handy bonus - aircraft stand. This item will help you with displaying your model on the shelf in flight position.

All necessary symbols for two markings fit onto one decals sheet. Printing quality looks great and those should be easy to work with.

Rear side of the box carries pictures of the finished model. Assembly manual and marking guide are typical for this brand. You can see all pages in the video-review.

New Yak should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is a great thing to build, especially if you have had a chance to see this aircraft in real life. Moreover, assembled model won't take a lot of space, so who knows, maybe we will see highly detailed 1/72 release in the future. I also wonder what aftermarket brands will bring for this aircraft. As for the standard package, it looks decent, and aircraft stand is a welcome addition for the civil aircraft model.
