ICM 1/48 Ju 88A-4 with German GP and Torpedo (48229)

This article is dedicated to ICM 1/48 Ju 88A-4 with German GP and Torpedo (48229). Long name was given due to several kits being included into the box. You will get not only aircraft, but also torpedo trailer and figurines. Of course, everything is made in the same scale, so you can combine those things into one project. There are 234 parts for assembly of the aircraft, 52 parts for torpedo trailer and 45 for figurines. All this sounds like a serious package, so let's open the box and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with another Ju 88 version.

We are going to start with wing parts. Each side should be glued out of two halves, but there are guiding pins which will help you with alignment.

Model also features both engines. Yes, assembly manual shows closed cowlings, but I think it might be worth considering the possible open cowling version in your build.

Landing gear parts can be seen on the next sprue. They look thick, but I would recommend to check for metal aftermarket.

Kit also features "own" torpedoes which can be placed on the aircraft.

Each engine gondola should be glued out of separate panels. Note also one-piece propellers which will be easier to work with.

Yes, that's another pair of engine gondolas. You will use only one type, so another one will go into your spare parts box.

Both fuselage halves come on the same sprue. Inside you will find some of the cockpit features as well as guiding elements.

Clear frame is packed into separate plastic bag, so nothing was damaged during shipping. Overall quality of those parts looks great.

Now we can move to "bonus" sets in the box. First of all we get Ground Personnel figurines in the same scale. In my opinion this is a quite important thing as those guys might make a nice diorama scene.

One more thing is a torpedo trailer. This kit might be familiar to some modelers as it was released separately. Here you will find parts for one extra torpedo and special trailer on which armament can be displayed.

Decals sheet is not big, but features all necessary symbols for several markings. Printing quality looks fine. All assembly manuals are typical for ICM and I show all pages in the video-review.

New combo-set should be already available for purchase. In my opinion all these three kits make a great choice for a diorama project in 1/48 scale. Just add some interesting base and you will get a convincing thing. Well, maybe it would be good idea to source some PE for fine features, but this decision is up to you. Overall quality looks fine, nevertheless, some skills will be needed due to the size of the finished Ju 88.
