Special Hobby 1/48 Airspeed Oxford Mk.I (SH48227)

This time we are going to talk about fresh release - Special Hobby 1/48 Airspeed Oxford Mk.I (SH48227). Aircraft model comes as fresh version of twin-engine frame from the famous Czech manufacturer. Original release happened way back in 2011, so it will be interesting if this kit still looks nice and can be recommended to build. Packaging is typical for this brand, one plastic bag carries all necessary frames. Let's open it and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with Warhawk kit.

Watch this video where I show all parts even closer.

First frame is dedicated to fuselage halves. Both are molded with tail fin and rudder. Note that nose section is also premolded, so you will have to be careful. Moreover, there are no guiding elements inside.

Each tailwing should be glued out of two halves. Landing gear parts look fine and it might be a good idea to add brake lines here.

Cowling front section should be glued out of two panels, but there are no guiding pins inside. Both engines are not too detailed, just enough for what will be visible in cowlings.

Large wing panels might be a bit tricky to get together, so definitely take your time gluing those. Note that wing mechanisation is premolded.

Clear frame is packed into separate plastic bag. Molding quality looks great, and you can see masks sheet on the photo below.

Next you can see resin parts for various external and internal elements. Overall casting quality looks good, so it is a good thing to have in standard package.

Unpainted PE fret is also a standard thing, you will use those parts mostly in the cockpit area. In my opinion this item is a great upgrade in 1/48 scale.

There is no mention on where decals were printed, but overall quality looks good. In the middle you will also find a dashboard decal. :)

All four markings can be seen on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. I show all pages in the video-review.

New kit should be already available for purchase. In my opinion this kit is not something to recommend to beginners. Nevertheless, it is a good choice for experienced modelers who would like to build twin-engine aircraft. In one box you will get plastic together with some great additions which will add more features to the whole project. The only thing to remember is that such build will take a bit more time, just as any other multimedia kit out there. Markings choice looks nice, and I am sure you will find something suitable for your model.
