This review is dedicated to Tamiya 1/48 JS-2 Model 1944 ChKZ (71). Kit itself is not exactly new, but it is still interesting for modelers who would like to work on smaller model. Moreover, Japanese manufacturer tries to fit more features into these releases, so now we can check it in person. Packaging is typical here, all frames are packed into separate plastic bags. Real tank also doesn't require an extra introduction, so let's open everything and check together.
By the way, here you can read review with Nashorn in the same scale.

Watch this video where I show all parts even closer.
We are going to start with the sprues "A" and "P". Here you will find drivetrain parts as well as plastic tracks. I am glad to see plastic tracks here instead of possible vinyl option. Main gun barrel should be glued out of two halves, what is not that cool option to have.
Next is a sprue "C", where Tamiya placed tankman figurine as well as some external elements. Note that transport bracket will have to be cleaned of plastic bits first.
Lower hull section should be glued out of several panels. Overall fitment is good thanks to clever design of connection points.
Top hull section comes as one-piece part, but front mudguards will have to be attached separately. Turret is also glued out of two halves.
Decals sheet is not that huge, but here you will find all necessary symbols for four markings. Some of them can be seen on the photo below.
Metal weights are typical for this type of kit from Tamiya. Frankly speaking, I don't see any use in them. Towing cables should be replicated with help of thread.
All brochures are printed in black-and-white. You can check pages in the video-review
Overall this JS-2 looks as good as all other Tamiya armor releases in 1/48 scale. For reasonable price you will get nicely detailed model, which should be easy to assemble. Moreover, it won't take a lot of space, and for some modelers it will be a deciding factor. You can also find some aftermarket PE for even more features on this tank. :)
