ICM 1/48 Ju 88A-8 Paravane (48230)

This time we have a chance to check ICM 1/48 Ju 88A-8 Paravane (48230). Plastic kit copies yet another version of the big German aircraft in popular scale. As you can notice on the boxart, model will let you build aircraft with cutting setup in the front. There are 222 parts for assembly of the model with 425mm wingspan. Packaging is typical, all frames come in plastic bag. Let's open them and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with aircraft model in bigger scale.

Watch this video where I show all parts even closer.

Each side of the wing should be glued out of two halves. Mechanization is molded separately here.

Both engines are copied out of the box. This is a really great feature, so it might be a good idea to expose at least one.

Next we see machine guns which are molded as single-piece parts.

Wing mechanization comes on the separate frame together with landing gear parts. All features look good here and deserve careful paintwork.

We won't need this type of engine gondolas and propellers. Each landing gear wheel should be glued out of two halves, so I would recommend to get the resin replacement.

Here we get pretty much the same design of parts. It is good to see attachment points in the middle section.

Both fuselage halves come without tail section. Tailwing should be glued out of two halves, there are guiding pins which should come handy.

Special cutting triangle will have to be glued out of several plastic parts. Pay attention for the alignment between those.

Clear frame is packed into separate plastic bag. Molding quality looks good and there is also a masking template included.

Decals sheet is not that big, but carries all necessary symbols. Printing quality looks fine and you can see all markings on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for ICM. You can check all pages in the video-review.

New kit should be already available for purchase and looks as fine as the previous versions of this aircraft. In my opinion this is a nice copy of the big twin-engine German aircraft in unusual configuration. There is also a plenty of space for additional details, so some modelers might get aftermarket for even better look. Whole kit is not something I would recommend to beginners, so that's why it might be good add some extras.

Pros

  • Nice molding quality
  • Clever parts division
  • Good decals
  • Masks template included
