Zvezda 1/72 SA-22 Greyhound (5069)

This article will tell you more about Zvezda 1/72 SA-22 Greyhound (5069). New model copies Russian AA System in small scale. Such build will be an impressive project and won't take crazy amount of space as 1/35 model. There are 264 parts which should assemble into a model with 17.3cm length. Moreover, manufacturer promises several assembly options as well as good details out of the box. Packaging is typical here, so let's open it and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with another small model in different scale.

We are going to start with large frame which carries mix of various parts. Here you will find large chassis bars as well as drivetrain and suspension parts.

Engine parts look nice, but there is no option out of the box for exposing those. I guess you will have to do some scratchbuilding if you will want to show them.

Next we see large panels which should assemble into rear section. Overall parts division looks fine, but I would recommend to dry fit everything before gluing in place.

Note also amount of premolded details here. It looks amazing and deserves some careful weathering with help of washes.

Next we see front cab parts as well as some other elements for AA gun. Main barrel should be glued out of two halves, so it will be important to avoid possible seams.

Yes, doors are molded into side panels of the cab, the same can be said about roof hatch. It would be nice to get as separate parts, but Zvezda decided to go this way.

The last grey plastic frame comes in pair and carries all necessary parts for AA system. Note again missile containers which should be glued out of two halves. I guess some sanding will be required.

Here is something I am not a huge fan of - rubber wheels. Yes, they looks fine and even feature some details on tire walls, but still resin replacement would be far superior.

Clear frame comes in the separate plastic bag together with decals. Molding quality looks great, but there are no masks in the kit.

On the rear side of the box you will find pictures of the finished model as well as some information about the real vehicle. Assembly manual and marking guide pages are shown in our video-review.

New kit comes as yet another great release from Zvezda. I like that out of the box you will get two assembly options - transport position or deployed one. It is also good to see amazing molding quality and clever parts division. Nevertheless, some parts still leave question unanswered. For example, separate doors would definitely come handy. Another thing - two-piece tube assemblies which might take some time to get them right. Nevertheless, whole model looks like a great choice for small scale modelers who would like to build truck with AA system on its back. :)
