Special Hobby 1/48 L-4 Grasshopper (SH48218)

This time we are going to talk about Special Hobby 1/48 L-4 Grasshopper (SH48218). Aircraft kit comes as completely new-tooled model in popular scale. Aircraft is quite famous, so I think this model should be interesting to many modelers. Moreover, parts count is surprisingly small. We have commercial sample here on the table, so let's open this box and check everything together.

We are going to start with the frame which is dedicated to mix of various parts. Long struts will be used as wing spars.

Out of the box you will get a nice engine, but there is also a possibility to get even more detailed upgrade from CMK. Note also one-piece canopy frame.

Fuselage and wing parts come on the last grey plastic sprue. Overall design is typical for such kit, but note that wing mechanization is molded in.

Both fuselage halves look good, one of them has rudder premolded. Yes, it will be used as guiding element, what you can see on the photo below.

All parts also have guiding pins inside, but for the wings you will have to delete plastic push stabs so that halves will join properly. Overall molding quality looks fine to me.

Clear frame is packed into separate plastic bag together with 3D-printed rear leg. All parts look great, but there are no masks in the kit. You should buy them separately.

Kit features two decals sheets. Both look fine and should be easy to work with. There are some cockpit decals, but more features will be copied with help of what you can see on the photo below.

PE fret comes as nice bonus which should add some features inside your L-4. Assembly manual is typical for this brand, and I show all pages in the video-review.

New kit should be already available for purchase. In my opinion Special Hobby did a great job here, and you can expect a nice kit in popular scale. Moreover, there are many original accessories available, so it would be possible to pick something for your own build. Overall quality looks great out of the box, but I wonder if we would see some figures for this aircraft, so that we can build a diorama project. :)
