Miniart 1/48 P-47M Thunderbolt Dorsal Fin Basic Kit (48060)

This article will tell you more about Miniart 1/48 P-47M Thunderbolt Dorsal Fin Basic Kit (48060). New set continues line of big aircraft kits from the famous brand. Note that it comes without additional parts and PE as it is a Basic Kit. I reviewed the previous editions, so it will be interesting to see what is included here. Overall packaging is typical for the brand, and all frames are sealed into one plastic bag. Let's open them all and take a closer look together.

First two frames are filled with various parts - wing mechnisation, landing gear, and even some engine elements. Note that aircraft can be assembled in in-flight position too.

External equipment is included even in the Basic Kit, so you can add something to your build.

Both fuselage halves are molded together with tail fin, but without rudder. External features include recessed panel lines and riveting.

Engine should be assembled out of several parts and it is quite detailed for the standard item. It might be worth spending some time on proper paintwork here.

Cockpit is separated into several panels. Those have a lot of premolded features which will require careful brushwork.

Each wing should be glued out of two halves. Note that cowling is also assembled out of several panels.

Kit features two clear frames, both look great straight out of the box. There are no masks in the kit, so it might be worth finding some aftermarket.

Decals are printed in Cartograf, and you don't have to worry about any quality issues. There is also a segmentation for easier application. Both markings can be seen on the photo below.

New set should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is a great choice for modelers who would like to have their own copy of the famous Thunderbolt. Don't be confused by Basic Kit tag, it still packs a punch, and there are a lot of features to work on. Moreover, there is already quite a wide choice of aftermarket add-ons which might be handy for some modelers.
