This time I will tell you more about Italeri 1/32 Macchi MC.200 Saetta (2516). Kit comes as a new-tool release from the famous brand. It is molded in large scale and should be interesting for modelers who would like to have this one in their collection. Manufacturer promised modern design and improved quality, so it will be interesting to see what is copied here. Moreover, one of the box sides shows a generous package in terms of various bonuses included in the box. Overall packaging is typical for Italeri, so all frames come sealed into several bags. Let's open them all and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with useful book about another Italian aircraft.

Watch this video-review where I show all parts even closer.
First frame carries mix of parts - landing gear bits and some of the cowling sections. All elements are molded nicely and I didn't find any possible issues here.
There is no open cowling assembly option, but at least this section is designed properly. Frontal "ring" will also require installation of PE slats.
Landing gear legs can be found in the opposite corner. Here you can also see both machine guns which will be installed on the aircraft.
Separate sprue is dedicated to wings sections. Overall design is classic here - two top halves and one bottom panel.
Note that large wingspan will be supported with help of plastic spar. I would recommend considering reinforcement with metal bar, but this is up to you.
It is notable that Italeri included nicely detailed engine in this kit. There is no open cowling assembly option, so you will have to think how to do it with your own tools.
I have no doubt that aftermarket brands will try to build on this engine, so expect some add-ons soon.
Fuselage halves come on the next frame. Note that nose section should be glued out of several panels. There is also separate one-piece rudder for today's version.
Cockpit walls are molded separately and feature plenty of premolded elements. I wonder what aftermarket will bring for this area though.
Italeri designed cockpit halves with guiding elements inside, so it should be easy to combine them together.
Clear frame looks great. MC.200 has an open cockpit, so you will have to work on pilot's workplace in any case.
This is why it is good to see pre-cut masks here. Those will be useful not only for transparent parts, but also for landing gear wheels.
Another great bonus - two unpainted PE frets. Some parts installation will take some time, so be ready and patient with those.
You will also find vinyl pipe and metal wire for some fine features on the model.
Yes, those are 3D-Decals, which should be used for the instrument panel. In my opinion this is a quite useful bonus which is easier to install in comparison with PE.
Decals come from Cartograf, so you shouldn't be worried about any possible issues here. Note also segmentation on the sheet.
All markings can be seen on the side of the box. Marking guide is printed in color and comes as the separate brochure.
New aircraft release should be already available for purchase. In my opinion Italeri did a great job here, and whole set is different from what we are used to see. Quality looks fine straight out of the box, and various bonuses should come handy for a fine result. The only thing to remind to some of you is that here we get 1/32 scale, so be sure to have enough experience to build such thing. :)
