This time we are going to talk about ICM 1/48 Ki-21-Ib Sally with Japanese Pilots and Ground Personnel (48197). As the name and boxart suggest, you will get aircraft together with figurines in the same scale. Such a combo might be useful for interesting diorama where you just have to add some stand. I reviewed them separately, but it might be worth to refresh on what we get in the package. Box size here is standard, and parts count equals to 265 for aircraft and 38 for figurines. Let's open them all and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with the solo release of this aircraft.

Watch this video-review where I show all parts even closer.
First frame is dedicated to figurine parts. Overall design is similar to what we are used to get in 1/35 scale. Note that there are no guiding pins for proper positioning.
Aircraft parts count might sound not that impressive, but you will get all necessary things for a nice build in 1/48 scale. On the first frame you can see some of the wing panels.
Tail section should be assembled separately, by inserting each half into fuselage part. Overall design is quite smart and there are guiding elements to help you with alignment.
This frame comes in two pieces as we get both engines and landing gear. Standard assembly process doesn't feature a possibility to open cowlings, but you can make one not glued in place.
Interior is surprisingly detailed on this model, so it might be worth thinking on how to show it on finished build.
Both fuselage halves come on the separate frame. Even though some panels are molded separately, doors are molded shut and you won't be able to open them.
Last frame brings wing halves as well as some interior elements. Overall molding quality looks fine to me.
Clear frame is packed into a separate plastic bag. Molding quality looks fine and I am glad to see masking templates to be included into the package.
Decals printing quality looks fine, and you will find symbols for several marking options. Assembly manuals are typical for this brand, I show all pages in the video-review.
New aircraft combo should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is a great choice for modelers who would like to build something more sophisticated than just aircraft model. Moreover, quality looks fine and you will get a lot of features out of the box. There is also some space for improvement if you would like to do some scratch-building in your project.
