Miniart 1/35 Pz.Kpfw.IV Ausf.J Mid.Prod (35339)

Big kits are always fun, and today I will tell you more about Miniart 1/35 Pz.Kpfw.IV Ausf.J Mid.Prod (35339). Tank set comes as yet another version of the well-known German military vehicle in popular scale. Moreover, it is an Interior Kit, so you can expect crazy parts count with impressive details out of the box. Overall packaging is typical, but box weight hints at the amount of things inside. Let's open the plastic bags and take a closer look at all parts.
By the way, here you can read review with another German vehicle in the same scale.

Watch this video where I show all parts even closer.

On the first frames you will find panels for the turret as well as some hull panels. All parts are detailed from both sides.

On the next frame you can see panels for the lower hull section. There are guiding elements which will help you to align those with the floor panel on the photo below.

Here is another side skirt together with various separate hatches. It might be worth thinking on which ones you would like to have open on your build.

As for the interior, amount of details is still impressive even after seeing previous versions. Keep in mind that such thing is more for experienced modeler.

All parts have the guiding elements, but it is still necessary to think through on how you will paint various sections. Moreover, it can be worth deciding whether you want a cut-through version.

Roadwheels are molded together with rubber sections and the are no masking templates. Here you can also see drive sprocket which should be glued out of two halves.

Pz.Kpfw.IV features nicely detailed engine, so the covers will have to be open not to hide this beauty inside. I would recommend to add some wiring as well.

Just like in the previous versions, here we get separate ammo rounds, and you will have to paint them one by one. Tools can be replicated with PE clamps for even better look.

Here you can see more parts for the engine, as well as for the lower hull section. Overall quality looks great and there is no molding problem even on the smallest part.

Turret external armor is molded out of plastic and can be assembled in several positions. I think it might be worth painting the separately and then installing into necessary spot.

Turret main gun will be nicely detailed as well, but it might be worth investing into metal barrel for better appearance.

Separate track links and pins are packed into two bags. Yes, this will be a tedious procedure, but the final look should be worth it.

I guess slightly helpful is the fact that we get small jig to effectively assemble small lengths. Later you can connect them on the same jig too.

Engine compartment will be a build on its own rights. It might be a good idea to spend time painting and weathering this area as well as exposing it on the build model.

Turret panels come on the separate frame. Here it is easy to see separate hatches as well as some of the minor elements and periscope cover.

Last grey sprue carries top hull panel as well main gun barrel and muzzle brake variants. Those look fine for standard build, but as I said before, experienced modelers might consider the metal option.

Clear frame is packed into a separate plastic bag. Molding quality is great, but there are no masks included.

Miniart included two unpainted PE frets for various features. Smaller one will be handy for the tank interior, while big one carries large sections of the schurzen.

Decals are printed in Decograph, so the quality is great. Here you will find all necessary symbols for six markings which can be seen on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. I show all pages in the video-review.

Some of you joked already that such build can be a good choice for a weekend project. Well, yes, parts count might look overwhelming, but I think final result should be worth it. Whole build will take some time, nevertheless, it can be separated into "modules". This way you will be able to properly paint interior, drivetrain, turret and then outer hull and get everything together. Of course, figurines are also welcome here in order to show the size of the tank.
