USCP 1/24 BMW 2002 Engine Bay Set (24T024)

Today's article will be focused on USCP 1/24 BMW 2002 Engine Bay Set (24T024). As you can guess from the name of the set, it should be useful with car model molded in popular scale. Overall idea is simple - to add the feature which wasn't present in original plastic. Moreover, it should help you avoid doing some scratchbuilding, so it will be interesting to see what is included into the small box. Let's open it and take a closer look together.

First of all, let's start with the small reminder of how original plastic looks like. Yes, bonnet is premolded, so you will have to do a bit of cutting before installing the engine.

Whole engine bay is divided into several parts. Here you can see engine block which looks good out of the box.

Radiator and oil pan and top cover are molded separately. Note amount of features on the top cover. Could be cool to have oil filler cap as separate part, but here it is premolded.

As the set copies whole engine bay, there are additional elements of suspension and engine equipment included. Everything looks great, but it is better to plan the painting strategy in advance. :D

Note that engine bay cover is also supplied, and you won't have to do anything to copy this element.

Top bonnet cover is sold separately. Here you can see the fitment of the cover and previous panel. I will review the bonnet in the separate review which will be online soon. On the photo below you can see another important thing - decals with various stencils. In my opinion this is something what would make your work look even more realistic.

New set is already available for purchase. In my opinion it is a great addition for modelers who are not satisfied with closed bonnet on Hasegawa model. Yes, installation process will take some time, but final result should be worth it. This is definitely not a set for beginners, so be sure to have some skills. As for the things I would like to see in the kit - it can be a bonnet hinge as it is not included in this set or bonnet cover set.
