ICM 1/35 Beobachtungspanzerwagen Sd.Kfz 251/18 Ausf.A (35105)

This review is dedicated to ICM 1/35 Beobachtungspanzerwagen Sd.Kfz 251/18 Ausf.A (35105). If you take a careful look at the name, you might notice that there is also some crew mentioned. Yes, it means that figurines will be included, and whole set can be a good base for some diorama build. Sd.Kfz.251 was reviewed by me in previous versions, but new one comes with several additional things, so it will be interesting to see what is inside. Overall packaging is typical for this brand, and all parts come in resealable plastic bag. There are 315 parts for the vehicle and 11+32 for figures. Assembled model will measure 167mm length.
By the way, here you can read review with aircraft set from the same brand.

Watch this video where I show all parts even closer.

We can start with figurines. As you remember from video, there are five of them included in the box.

Overall parts division is similar to what we are used to see in 1/35 scale. Note that there are no guiding pins for those separate legs and hands.

As for the vehicle, lower section should be glued out of separate panels. On the photo above you can also notice the parts for an engine.

Next we see some interior parts as well as external antenna setup. Overall molding quality looks fine.

Roadwheels are molded separately. You will have to carefully assemble all those parts together and also plan the painting process in advance.

Don't be fooled by the scale - there are a lot of small parts which will require due care. Nevertheless, it is nice to get all those things as part of standard package.

Top section is molded as one-piece, and such design should make it easier to get the right alignment. Note that floor panel has some premolded features on it.

Separate bulkheads come on the last frame. They should be easy to install on your model.

Clear frame is packed into separate plastic bag. Overall molding quality looks fine, but there are no masks included in the kit.

Decals sheet is not that large, but you will find all necessary symbols for several markings. Figurines painting guide is printed on separate brochure.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. I show all pages in the video-review.

New set should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is an interesting combo which might come handy for some diorama ideas. Overall quality looks as good as in the previous releases, so you just need to choose the diorama base for this one. There is also some space for additional details, for example, you can replace vinyl tracks with some more detailed aftermarket. Engine can be also improved with wiring and weathering. In other words, you just need to understand what will be needed for your project and this model will come handy. :)
