ICM 1/35 Unimog S404 Radio (35137)

This article will tell you more about ICM 1/35 Unimog S404 Radio (35137). New set comes as yet another version of the famous military truck. It is still molded in popular scale and might be an interesting diorama addition or the solo project. Packaging is typical for this brand, all frames come in the same plastic bag. There are 314 parts which should assemble into a model with 151mm length. Previous versions looked quite nice, so it will be interesting to check what is new here and what are the possible options.

We are going to start with the one of the biggest frames which carries panels for the rear section. There are cutouts for clear sections, but all doors and hatches are molded shut.

Here you can see mix of various parts - various suspension, engine and interior elements. Even the thinnest parts are carefully molded and should be easy to work with.

Wheel rims are separate here. Such design will help you with painting those parts.

Front cab features a lot of things out of the box. I would recommend to find some driver figurine for even more impressive look.

As you might have noticed on the boxart, kit features soft top, which should be glued out of several panels. There is also a separate bonnet that can be used for displaying the engine.

Some parts come as single-piece elements, and this will be useful for easier assembly. Such design will give you the right alignment out of the box.

This sprue is special for today's version. You will find new panels for the rear box as well as antennas. Note that the latter item can be assembled in several versions.

Clear frames are packed into separate plastic bag. Molding quality looks great out of the box.

Yes, there are vinyl tires included in standard package. It would be a good idea to find resin replacement for a bit more sophisticated look.

Decals sheet is not that big, but there are all necessary symbols for several markings. You can see some of them on the side of the box.

New Unimog should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it looks as good as the previous versions of this truck. Parts count is not too high and offers you a chance to copy some of the internal bits as well. Moreover, empty rear box is a great space to do some scratchbuilding if you would like to do so. As I said before, plastic model also has several assembly options, and it is really cool to have them out of the box. Now just make some small diorama base, get a figurine and it will turn into a great project in popular scale.
