Eduard 1/48 Rufe Limited Edition (11171)

This review is fully dedicated to Eduard 1/48 Rufe Limited Edition (11171). Well, name of this release hints on which aircraft can be copied in popular scale. Note that kit comes as Dual Combo, so you can build two aircraft out of the box. We already had the chance to check original Zero plastic kit from Eduard, and now it will be interesting to see what new version has to offer. A6M2-N is a quite special version of the famous fighter, and in 1/48 scale you will get a chance to have a quite impressive project. Newcomer is packed into a large box and has a noticeable weight to it. Well, let's open everything and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with another Limited Edition dedicated to Zero.

Watch this video where I show all parts even closer.

Here you can check folding wingtips for the model.

This video will tell you more about Brassin seat set from the same brand.

As this is Dual Combo, we will check only one set of parts, which is needed for assembly of one model. On the first photo you can see sprue with cockpit and engine parts. It is really cool to have such detailed engine out of the box, but you can replace it with even more advanced Brassin product.

This frame is exclusive for Rufe only. Eduard placed here all floats and some of the external parts. All of those halves have guiding pins inside for easier alignment.

Fuselage halves can be found on the next frame. Both are molded with tail fin. Cowling should be glued out of separate panels on the special template.

Another special sprue comes with lower panel for the biggest float and special transport cart. The latter will be used in order to display the aircraft.

Overall wing design is typical. Flaps are molded in, so you will have to get separate set for dropped position. There is also a separate kit for the folding wingtips.

Each model will also get a portion of PE parts. Those are pre-painted, so you can use them in the cockpit as well.

Clear frame is packed into separate plastic bag. Overall quality looks great, and you can open the cockpit on your model.

Pre-cut masks will come handy for the precise paintwork on your model. There are also masks for the wheels on the transport cart.

Kit features three decals sheets - one main and two for stencils. All of those are printed in Eduard, so you shouldn't worry about possible quality issues. Some of the markings can be seen on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. I show all pages and markings guides in the video-review.

First of all I should remind you again that this kit comes as Limited Edition. In other words, you should hurry if you want one in your collection. :) Overall this release looks great out of the box, and Eduard also provides some additional accessories, which can be bought separately. Assemble model will look unusual and might be a good opportunity to play with weathering. By the way, don't forget about some weight in the front section as it will be important for properly balanced model. Yes, this is required due to the transport stand, but I am glad that we actually get the transport cart in the standard package.
Get this and other kits on official Eduard website.
