Eduard 1/48 F6F-5 Hellcate Late Profipack (8229)

Today we are going to talk about Eduard 1/48 F6F-5 Hellcate Late Profipack (8229). Straightaway it is worth saying that the plastic itself is present on market for some time. Nevertheless, it is still a nice thing to work on and might be a perfect candidate for your first kit pick. This time we get Profipack, so one box features not only plastic parts and decals, but also PE and masks. All this should be enough to assemble nice model. Packaging is typical, all frames are separated into several bags. Let's open them and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with Dual Combo Limited Edition in the same scale.

Watch this video where I show all parts even closer.

First frame is dedicated to mix of parts. You will find tailwings and cowling section as well as some cockpit elements.

Even though plastic is not exactly new, we still get a nice engine included out of the box. It should be visible through the cowling, so be sure to spend some time on painting it properly.

Eduard includes rockets for one of the marking. Those would look unusual on Hellcat. :)

Both fuselage halves are molded together with tail fin, but without rudder and cowling. The latter should be glued out of several parts.

Each side of the wing should be glued out of two halves. Ailerons are separate and for the dropped flaps you will have to buy PE set.

Resin wheels come as unusual bonus for Profipack. Those parts will come handy for fine features in your build.

Both PE frets are typical for Eduard. Those fine pars will definitely improve overall quality of details on the model.

Clear frame is packed into separate plastic bag. Molding quality looks great and you can open the canopy on your model.

Pre-cut masks will come handy for a fine paint finish not only on clear parts, but also on resin wheels.

Both decals sheets are printed in Eduard. Overall quality looks great and there are even some cockpit decals included.

Stencils sheet is also a welcome thing, especially in 1/48 scale. All markings can be seen on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. I show all pages in the video-review.

Today's kit can be considered as another nice Profipack from the well-known brand. It copies the famous aircraft in 1/48 scale and can be even recommended as the first kit for some modelers. In my opinion plastic looks great even today, several years after original release. Somehow Eduard has managed to produce the timeless model which is fun to work on. Moreover, don't forget about original accessories, as those can help you get even more features in the build.

Pros

  • Nice molding quality
