ICM 1/48 He 111H-8 Paravane (48267)

This review is dedicated to ICM 1/48 He 111H-8 Paravane (48267). As you can guess, we get a model of the German aircraft in popular scale. Ukrainian manufacturer released several other types before, but now we get large Heinkel with blade in front. This version was used in order to cut off balloons in the sky and gave whole aircraft a bit more menacing look. Well, in such big scale it should be an interesting thing to work on, so I decided to take a closer look. Packaging is typical for this brand, and inside you will find 332 parts which should assemble into a model with 472mm wingspan. Let's open everything and check together.
By the way, here you can read review with another unusual He 111 in the same scale.

We are going to start with large sprue which houses two large spars. Those elements will be used as main support for main wing.

Kit also offers several types of the lower "belly" panel for the aircraft.

One-piece propeller looks fine and should be easy to get off the box. Landing gear wheels are okay, but I would recommend to get resin aftermarket for more impressive appearance.

Large fuselage halves come on the separate frame. Tail fin is premolded, while rudder comes as separate part. Note that some bottom and top sections come as separate parts as well.

It is very nice that ICM included both engines in the box. Those look great and deserve to be exposed on your model.

Each side of the main wing should be glued out of two halves. Note that flaps are premolded, so you will have to hunt some aftermarket in order to have those retracted.

Paravane parts come on the separate sprue. They look fine, but will require due attention with alignment and overall fitment as you will have to drill original wing parts.

Overall quality looks fine and I didn't find any issues whatsoever.

Note that tailwings and rudder should be glued out of two halves. There are guiding pins which will help you with this.

Clear frames are packed into separate plastic bag. Overall quality looks great, but there are no masks included here.

Decals sheet looks fine and those symbols should be easy to work with. You can see options on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. I show all pages in the video-review.

Paravane should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is a great choice for modelers who would like to build something unusual. Standard package offers a lot of great features out of the box, and many modelers will appreciate this. Moreover, it should be possible to find some aftermarket for even more features on your model. I would recommend to do so, as such project deserves a bit more details. Of course, this is not a project for beginners, so you should be confident in your skills before starting such thing.
