ICM 1/48 AH-1G Arctic Cobra Limited Edition (48299)

This time we are going to talk about ICM 1/48 AH-1G Arctic Cobra Limited Edition (48299). New release is interesting because it is unusual in several aspects. First of all this is the first Limited kit from ICM which I remember. Second, kit comes as result of cooperation with another brand - Special Hobby. We reviewed original release as well, but now it is boxed as ICM offering. There are 182 parts which should assemble into a model with 295mm length. Packaging is typical, so let's open it and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with car model in 1/32 scale.

We are going to start with the biggest sprue here. Both fuselage halves are molded with tail section and feature nice external details. Main rotor is molded as large single-piece part.

Kit offers two types of the rails, and you can see them on the photo above. Smaller scale means bigger amount of small parts, so be ready to work with tweezers in some cases.

Kit features two options for the tail fin section. Both should be glued out of two halves, but there are guiding elements inside.

Note that this version includes towing rack just like the bigger brother. This thing will be handy for display purpose. Here you can also see cockpit parts for the model.

It is also nice to see various armament included into standard package here. In my opinion it is a good bonus which will give your more assembly options.

Overall design is standard for those, so you will have to work with two halves assemblies.

Clear frame is packed into separate plastic bag. Molding quality looks great, and you can copy open cockpit with those parts. Assembly manual also includes masking guide for all clear elements.

Decals fit onto one sheet, here you will find all necessary symbols for three markings. Overall quality looks fine and should be easy to apply on the model. You can see marking options on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for ICM. You can check all pages in the video-review.

Smaller Cobra looks like a decent addition to the helicopters lineup from ICM. If you didn't have enough space for the 1/32 model, this might be a good choice to work on. Moreover, there is some aftermarket available, which will help you add more features on the model. The only thing to remember is that some parts will be smaller and will require due care. :D
