ICM 1/72 Soviet Military Airfield 1980s (DS7203)

This review is dedicated to ICM 1/72 Soviet Military Airfield 1980s (DS7203). If you take a closer look at the kit number, you will see that it is part of so-called diorama releases where we get several models. Today's kit is not different and you can expect everything what you can see on the boxart here. Packaging is typical, plastic comes in several plastic bags. There are 100 parts for assembly of APA-50M, 82 parts for MiG-29, 106 parts for ZiL-131 and 32 parts for PAG-14 airfield plates. All this sounds impressive, so let's open the box and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with bigger scale aircraft kit.

As ZiL trucks are somewhat similar, I think it is worth showing only one set of parts. On the photo above you can see clear parts for the front cab and rear section.

Front cab is molded as single-piece element with bonnet and doors shut. Well, this is something you would expect in such small scale.

Truck is molded in small scale, so be ready to work with very tiny parts. Some of them might require plastic saw for careful separation.

I like that main chassis is molded as single-piece part. Suspension parts also look fine for this size.

Each fuel tank will have to be glued out of two halves. Some of the elements might be actually replaced with metal wire if you would like to replicate bent parts.

It is nice that truck comes with plastic wheels. Such thing should be easier to paint and replicate weathering.

Airfield panels come in the separate plastic bag. In my opinion it is a handy thing for a nice diorama stand.

Here you can see all the parts for other version of the truck.

MiG-29 parts come in the separate plastic bag. First frame is dedicated to air intakes and wings.

Kit also features some armament out of the box, so you can choose several loadout options. Landing gear parts look fine, but I would recommend to find some resin replacement for those.

Two fuselage halves are molded together with nose cone. External features look fine and should be ok for this scale.

Clear frame comes in the separate plastic bag and looks great. All assembly manuals are supplied in special folder, they are similar to previous "solo" releases of the kits.

Today's release looks like an interesting choice to build small scale diorama with aircraft. Just find some figures to add and you will get a decent project. Yes, aircraft model might be not the latest cutting edge tech, but it still should look fine if you know what to do. Moreover, there is plenty of aftermarket for some fine features on the model. The only question is whether you will be ready to invest extra into such project.
