Eduard 1/48 Fw 190D-9 Profipack (8188)

New review would be dedicated to Eduard 1/48 Fw 190D-9 Profipack (8188). As you can guess, we get another boxing of the famous German aircraft in popular scale. One box should feature nice plastic together with all necessary bonuses like PE and masks. Aircraft itself doesn't need an extra introduction and should be familiar to every modeler. Packaging is typical here, so let's open the box and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with another German fighter aircraft.

Watch this video-review where I show all parts closer.

We are going to start with the sprue which carries mix of parts. Here you will find cockpit base, tailwings, fuel tank parts and landing gear wheels.

Kit actually offers nicely copied main wheel wells details, what is really important on this aircraft. Engine is not included here though.

Front cowling sections come as single-piece parts. Such design should help you avoid unnecessary seams on these visible spots.

Both fuselage halves are molded together with tail fin, while rudder and cowling are separate. External details look good for this scale.

Wing parts division is typical, flaps are premolded. You will have to get the separate PE set if you would like to have the dropped flaps on your model.

Clear frame is packed into separate plastic bag. Molding quality looks great and you can see masks on the photo below.

Pre-painted PE fret should be useful for external and internal details. All this will help you make the model even more realistic. Decals sheets are printed in Eduard.

All main symbols come on the bigger decals sheet. You can check markings on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. I show all pages in the video-review.

New boxing of this Fw 190 should be already available for order. In my opinion it is a nice choice for modelers who would like to build the famous aircraft in rather large scale. Moreover, you get a lot of useful things in the box, so it will be handy for even more realistic result. Of course, some modelers would like to have a bit more detailed engine, but I think it is enough what we get out of the box. I want to see pilot figure in some of the future sets, as it would be really great add-on.
Get this and other decals on official Eduard website.

Pros

  • Nice molding quality
  • Clever parts division
  • PE and masks included
  • Good decals

Cons

  • Might be tricky for beginners
