Eduard 1/48 Sopwith F.1 Camel Bentley Engine Weekend Edition (8485)

Today we are going to talk about Eduard 1/48 Sopwith F.1 Camel Bentley Engine Weekend Edition (8485). As you can guess, here we get yet another boxing of the famous biplane in popular scale. Moreover, such version comes at a bit more affordable price, what should be interesting for some who missed the previous issues. Overall packaging is typical for this brand, so let's open it and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with Spitfire kit from the same brand.

Here you can check this kit even closer.

Another video is dedicated to masks set, which should be handy for a nice result.

First frame is dedicated to fuselage and wing parts. Overall design is typical for such kit, so there is nothing unusual or surprising. External features look good.

Second frame is literally filled with the engine parts. Of course, you will have to use Bentley version, while all others will go into your spare parts box.

Another sprue brings us the cowling parts and landing gear struts. Don't forget that this is a biplane, so wings assembly will require careful installation.

Clear frame is packed into separate plastic bag. Molding quality looks fine, and you saw masks set in the separate video-review above.

Eduard somehow managed to fit all the necessary symbols onto one decals sheet. Printing quality looks great. All markings can be seen on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand, and I show all pages in the video-review.

New kit should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it offers a great chance to try a modern set for a bit more accessible price. Some modelers don't need anything extra and should be fine with plastic and decals only. Moreover, you can still get some original Brassin upgrades if you would want to see more features here. The only thing that you should remember - this is definitely not a kit for beginners, as rigging will take some time.
Get this and other kits on official Eduard website.

Pros

  • Nice molding quality
  • Clever parts division
  • Good decals for 4 markings

Cons

  • Rigging might be tricky for some modelers
