Eduard 1/48 Red Tails&Co Limited Edition (11159)

This review is dedicated to Eduard 1/48 Red Tails&Co Limited Edition (11159). New kit comes as special release dedicated to the famous Fighter Groups which operated in Italy during WW2. Moreover, this is a Dual Combo, so you can expect two full sets of parts for nice models in popular scale. Packaging is typical for this brand, inside you will find several bags with sprues. Let's open them and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with Spitfire in the same scale.

You can help us get the new camera - just press "Donate" button on the right panel.

We are going to start with armament sprue. Here you will need only underwing fuel tanks, all other items are not used for today's build.

Fuselage halves come on the next frame. Both are molded together with tail fin and bonnet cover. Be careful in these areas, so that you will get a smooth joint.

This photo shows the differences between fuselage types in the kit. Yes, you will be able to replicate two different versions.

On the photo above you can notice some cockpit parts. Don't forget that it is possible to replace them with original Brassin add-on.

The same applies to landing gear wheels and legs. In my opinion standard plastic also looks good and should be easy to work with.

Wing design is typical for such kit. Note that mechanization is molded separately what should give you more assembly options.

Clear frame comes in the separate ziplock bag. Molding quality looks great and you can see masks sheet on the photo below.

Both models will get their portion of PE parts. Instrument panel parts also feature glazing on the dials.

Kit comes with one of the biggest decals sheets I have ever seen in Eduard kit. Printing quality looks great, and application will be easy as well.

Stencils are supplied on two small sheets. All 12 markings can be seen on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. I show all pages in the video-review.

New release should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is a great pick for those modelers who would like to build the famous aircraft in popular scale. Moreover, we get all the necessary things out of the box, so it is just a matter of careful assembly. Some of us might wish to see resin parts included, but it looks like we will have to buy them separately.
Get this and other kits on official Eduard website.

Pros

  • Nice molding quality
  • Clever parts division
  • Two kits in one box
  • PE and masks included
  • Great decals for 12 markings

Cons

  • No resin add-ons in the box
