Pen&Sword The Lost Dambuster Lancaster by Trevor Kerry and Gaetan Sagot

This review will tell you more about Pen&Sword The Lost Dambuster Lancaster by Trevor Kerry and Gaetan Sagot. As you can guess from the name and cover, whole book is dedicated to the story of the downed aircraft which was conducting attack on V2 manufacturing site. Aircraft was from the famous 617 Squadron which is also famous as Dambusters. I am going to review the digital version here, but you can also buy this one as paperback. In total there are 248 pages with plenty of text. Let's open them and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with a book about Mustang.

On the contents page you will see that there are more than six chapters in the book. This is needed in order to give you all necessary information regarding the event.

I recommend not to skip this background chapter, as it will give you a better understanding of the operation and why it was necessary. Book focuses on DV403 which was downed by FLAK and five crew members were killed.

Worth noting that author also tried to elaborate a bit on why it was important to destroy the V2 factory in Germany. There is also a great portion of info on how the operations were usually planned in case of such raids. In total there are 60 illustrations, so this is not a gallery book, but there is enough of visual information to help you with getting the full picture.

There are also separate sections dedicated to each of the crew members. In my opinion this is a very important feature in the book and it will be useful for the whole story as well. Author also included stories from survivors, so you will definitely get their perspective as well. New book should be already available for purchase. In my opinion this is a great historical read for all aviation fans. It shows how dangerous were those attack operations and what consequences were possible. Price will be set at 25GBP, what is reasonable for such high-quality book.
