ICM 1/35 GAZ-A in German Service (24053)

In this review I will tell you more about ICM 1/35 GAZ-A in German Service (24053). As some of you noted in the video-review, this kit continues series of Ford Model A plastic in popular scale. This time we can replicate captured Soviet vehicle with some German camouflages. Overall packaging is typical for the brand, so all frames come in one plastic bag. There are 201 parts which should assemble into a model with 160mm length. Let's open them all and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with Ford Model A in the same scale.

Watch this video-review where I show all parts even closer.

First frame is dedicated to body panels and some interior parts. Note that doors are molded shut and interior inserts are molded separately.

Kit should feature quite detailed drivetrain, but it is a question on how to expose it. Interior will be nice too, and you can spend a bit of time painting and weathering seats.

Here we can notice radiator grille, but it will be replace with the part shown on the photo below. Bonnet parts are molded shut, and professional modelers will definitely figure on how to open it.

New part looks as good as the old one, it is just needed for copying the Soviet version of the car.

Soft top should be assembled out of several parts, but whole operation won't take a lot of time. Keep in mind that today's car can be assembled only in this version.

Spoked wheels should look fine for the standard build, but experienced modelers will definitely try to replace it with real metal wire.

Side skirts are molded together with engine parts. Yes, this kit get a nicely detailed powerplant, but you will have to think on how to expose it.

New instrument panel is also here and should be used during the assembly.

Clear parts come in the separate plastic bag. Molding quality looks great, but there are no masks or templates included in this kit.

Vinyl tires are coming in five pieces. They look okay for the standard project.

Decals sheet is not that big, but you will find all necessary symbols here. Both markings are shown on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. I show all pages in the video-review.

New car model should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is a great chance to build something different from all those supercars we are used to see in the same scale. Out of the box you will get a lot of features and just need to properly assemble and paint them. Moreover, it might be a good idea to find a driver figurine in the same scale for even more interesting appearance.

Pros

  • Nice molding quality
  • Clever parts division
  • Good decals

Cons

  • No masks for clear parts
