ICM 1/35 Studebaker US6-U5 (35492)

This review is dedicated to ICM 1/35 Studebaker US6-U5 (35492).  New release brings us yet another version of the famous US truck in popular scale. Previous releases showed that plastic was nicely detailed out of the box. Today's tank truck should also feature some new parts to replicate the tanks. Packaging is typical, so all frames come in one plastic bag. There are 253 parts which should assemble into a model with 181mm length. Let's open everything and check together.
By the way, here you can read review with the previous truck version in the same scale.

Here is the small history note about the real truck:

The Studebaker US6 was a 2.5-ton, six-wheel drive truck produced primarily for the U.S. military during World War II. Renowned for its ruggedness and reliability, it became a backbone of Allied transportation. The US6-U5 variant was specifically designed as a gasoline tanker, equipped with a 750-gallon tank.

These trucks were instrumental in supplying fuel to Allied forces across various theaters of war. Their versatility and durability made them invaluable assets on the battlefield. While the US6 series saw production through the war's end, the model's legacy extends beyond the conflict, with many serving in post-war civilian roles.

Watch this video where I show all parts even closer.

First frame is "universal" as it was included in the previous versions as well. Large chassis bars won't be used as the fuel tank version requires different parts.

Drivetrain is molded as one-piece element, what is rather impressive. Such design should be easier to install on your model.

Yes, we get plastic wheels here. Such item should be more convincing in appearance and easier to assemble. This is definitely better than vinyl tires in my opinion.

Here you can see parts which will be needed for the gasoline truck version. Overall molding quality looks great and there are guiding elements in all necessary spots.

Front cab should be glued out of separate panels. Whole design is nice, but you should be ready to build truck with closed bonnet. Well, at least doors can be opened in order to show interior.

Last frame comes in two pieces. Each tank should be glued out of several panels, and there are guiding pins which will help you in this.

Clear frame is packed into a separate plastic bag. Molding quality looks great, but there are no masks included in the kit.

Decals sheet is not that big, but here you will find all necessary symbols for two options. Printing quality looks great, and you can see both options on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. I show all pages in the video-review.

New truck should be already available for purchase. In my opinion this is a cool choice for some diorama project with truck and additional vehicle or even aircraft. Overall design is well-thought and should be pleasure to work with. Don't be discouraged by two marking options, as it is a good opportunity to play with weathering and painting techniques. The only thing which is must-have in my opinion is the figurine of the driver which will give more sense of the scale. :)
