IBG Models 1/72 Su-27P in Ukrainian Air Force (72906)

This time we are going to check IBG Models 1/72 Su-27P in Ukrainian Air Force (72906). New kit comes as a special version of the well-known aircraft. In the small scale it will still take plenty of space, but for some modelers it is more attractive thing. I wasn't sure in the video-review, but yes, inside you will find plastic from Trumpeter. Combine it with new decals and you will get an interesting combo. Moreover, we haven't reviewed the original plastic, so let's open everything and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with another Ukrainian aircraft in the same scale.

Watch this video where I show all parts even closer.

Fuselage parts come wrapped together with band. External features are quite nice for this size, but nose wheel wells is empty.

Next sprue might surprise some of you with a foam. Such packaging is used in order to preserve tender parts. Note also engine nozzles and internal panels for air intakes.

This packaging should protect front section of the air intakes.

Next we see tail fins and nose cone. I like that nose cone is molded as single-piece element. Cockpit parts look okay, but some modelers might want to resort to resin accessories.

Last frames are dedicated to external equipment. It is good to have it included in the package, as those missiles look good.

Clear frame is not only packed separately, but also wrapped into special foam in order to avoid any scratches. There are no masks included into this kit.

Decals sheets are printed in Techmod, so you don't have to worry about printing quality. There are two large sheets which were created in cooperation with Foxbot.

Yes, digital camouflage is coming as decals, but I think professionals will try to replicate it with masks.

Marking guide is printed as separate brochure in color. You can see all markings on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for Trumpeter, but note that there is IBG Models logo on the front page. I show all pages in the video-review.

New kit should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is an interesting combo of plastic and decals which will help you to copy the famous fighter aircraft. Moreover, there are plenty of aftermarket add-ons which you can pick for your model. Yes, they will cost an extra, but I would recommend to get at least the masks set. I like that decals also include digital camouflage as not all of us would want to actually mask and paint it. Overall this is a nice pick for all fans of jet aircraft in small scale. :)
Get this and other kits on official IBG Models website.

Pros

  • Nice molding quality
  • Clever parts dividion
  • Great decals

Cons

  • No masks for clear parts
  • Empty nose wheel well
