Special Hobby 1/48 Supermarine Seafire Mk.15 FAA&RCN (SH48233)

Today we are going to talk about Special Hobby 1/48 Supermarine Seafire Mk.15 FAA&RCN (SH48233). New aircraft model comes as fresh boxing of the naval aircraft. Name hints on the markings which you can expect inside. Moreover, manufacturer promises some useful bonuses inside. Overall packaging is typical, so let's open everything and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with Kittyhawk in smaller scale.

Watch this video-review where I show all parts even closer.

First frame carries wing parts. Flaps are premolded and ailerons are separate here. The same can be said about air intakes and wheel wells.

Second sprue carries mix of various parts. Here you will find fuel tank, landing gear wheels, air intakes and some other elements. For wheels I would recommend to find resin alternative for more impressive look.

Last frame carries fuselage halves and some of the cockpit parts. I would recommend to plan the painting process in advance so you won't have to deal with some complex sections later. :)

Clear frame comes in the separate plastic bag. Molding quality looks great, and you can open the canopy on your model. Masks are not included in the original package.

Nice surprise comes in form of unpainted PE fret and black film. Those parts will be used in the cockpit area.

Decals sheet is not that huge, and you won't find any mention of the place where it was printed. Note that there is another decals option for instrument panel. Both markings can be seen on the photo below.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. I show all pages in the video-review.

New Seafire looks like yet another nice offering from the famous Czech brand. Popular scale makes it even more interesting for modelers who prefer bigger size. Nevertheless, this is definitely not the kit I would recommend to beginners. Plastic parts might require some attention, and you will also have to work with PE parts for the cockpit. It is also possible to say that there is some space for additional aftermarket in case you are willing to invest a bit more. :)

Pros

  • Nice molding quality
  • Clever parts division
  • PE included
  • Good decals

Cons

  • No masks for clear parts
  • Not suitable for beginners
