Revell 1/24 VW T1 Dr.Oetker (07677)

Today we are going to check Revell 1/24 VW T1 Dr.Oetker (07677). Bus model comes as yet another nice release from German brand. It is finished in typical car scale and might be a good choice for modelers who would like to take a break from all those sportcars. Moreover, there are some interior features included, so you can use the car for diorama project. Packaging is typical, and in total there are 124 parts inside. Let's open them and take a closer look together.
By the way, here you can read review with another unusual 1/24 scale kit.

Watch this video-review where I show all parts even closer.

We are going to start with dark grey frames. Here you can see some parts for the engine and suspension. In the lower right corner you will find dashboard.

Bumpers and wheel rims are also made out of the same plastic. In the upper left corner you can also see the steering wheel.

All car body panels are molded out of white plastic. Here you can see separate doors and front mask.

Next we find right wall panel, internal wall and side doors. Note that doors can be opened on the model.

Floor panel looks fine and deserves nice painting and weathering. Note also rear interior wall with space for the spare wheel.

Another side of the vehicle comes on the last white sprue. Roof is molded as one-piece part with guiding elements inside.

External floor panel also features nice details out of the box. Note that seats should be assembled out of separate sections.

All seat parts feature texture, so they don't look plastic smooth just like in some other kits.

Chrome parts look fine for out of the box items. In my opinion they are okay for the base project, but professionals will definitely try to repaint those.

Clear frame comes in separate plastic bag. Molding quality looks great, but there are no masks included.

There are five vinyl tires included in the kit. These are typical parts which should be okay for standard project.

Revell included clear film for internal windows. You will have to cut this part by yourself.

Decals sheet comes from Cartograf, so you don't have to worry about quality. Note that some interior features are also here.

Assembly manual is typical for this brand. I show all pages in the video-review.

Today's VW should be already available for purchase. In my opinion it is quite good kit which should be fun to work with. I wouldn't say this is a kit for beginners, but with some experience you will be able to build a nice copy. Moreover, there is plenty of opportunities for additional scratch-building. The only thing that would be cool to have - some boxes with "Dr.Oetker" products as well as driver figurine.
THANK YOU FOR DONATIONS WHICH MADE THIS REVIEW POSSIBLE!

Pros

  • Nice molding quality
  • Clever parts division
  • Good decals
  • Interior details

Cons

  • No masks for clear parts
  • Vinyl tires
